There's no control of troops nor their formations, all you can do is drag them around while they bunch up and get killed, don't try to use terrain as an advantage, it doesn't work at all, even if you literally put one side on the high ground. Defenders have less advantage against attackers unless the defenders have a perfect advantage. The troop variety is cool and the battles can be massive, but the game is laggy as hell and I've spawned under the map and had to fly ass numbingly slowly all the way to the top of the map to actually see the game play out. To improve this game, reduce the bugs, and MAKE YOU fly faster, AND ALLOW YOU TO SHAPE THE FORMATION OF YOUR SOLDIERS LIKE IN THE TOTAL WAR GAMES, ALSO IMPROVE THE DEFENSIVE GUARD/ HOLD MECHANIC so that way they don't just auto lose to the attackers. AND FOR GOD SAKES MAKE THE HIGH GROUND ACTUALLY USEFUL TO PUT TROOPS ON

Needs some work, none of the mods seem to have custom sounds unlike the first game which makes me sad, but overall pretty fun if you want to just throw millions of troops against each other while your PC begs for mercy.

I spent some birthday money on this back when it came out. Kinda moved on from it since then, but wanted to leave a positive review after seeing the amount of effort put into that new update. It's a super fun game and the map modding is gonna be nuts 🔥🔥🔥

If "Avengers End Game" got you thinking about ridiculously large pitched battles, there's here's this. You've probably seen lots of UEBS2 from content creators on social media. It is mainly fun as a sandbox game to simulate huge battles with hundreds and thousands of units. You can see if a platoon of army soldiers can fight off a horde of spartans, or something similarly ridiculous. On a fast computer system with a good amount of horsepower it won't even choke rendering it all (although if you zoom out they all look like ants fighting!) Sandbox mode is easy to set up with different units and how far they should be spread apart. During the battle there are a number of fun and easy controls. You can jump in mid-battle to control squads via a simple RTS system, or you can even go FPS mode by selecting one of the units to play! There is a campaign mode, as well as a FPS zombie survival mode. The latter is quite bare-bones, clunky, and repetitive. "Serious Sam" this isn't unfortunately. More work on this could have made it more fun, and also more customizable and enjoyable with different maps, multiple players, etc. UEBS2 is fairly easy to use and is endlessly replayable. There's also a mod scene. Hopefully we can see an UEBS3 which improves on the foundations of this one.
