It's like if killing floor 2 and cod zombies had a child but all they wanted to do was play with their legos instead of taking over the family business. Positives + No bugs, pretty stable game (In my current 8 hours of play) + It has a fun and relevant class/skilltree system + Plenty of unique weapons + COD like perks except they are all quite creative and provide a interesting change to combat + Interesting zombie types + A lot of difficulty customization ++ Very fun and unique building system Negatives - Very low player count, usually below 20 active players at any time - Has a workshop, hardly any real mods due to the small community - Extremely generic name that makes it harder to take seriously and more difficult to introduce people into - Zombie animations can sometimes feel off - Could do with more content to make refined builds out of Short yap session - The game doesn't look too impressive and may not have a huge amount of content but is very fun mechanically and is in my opinion, more fun than other zombie shooters, especially the triple A ones. Definitely worth a $10 dollar price tag Long uncut yap session - When it launched it had very negative reviews so I'm under the impression a poor launch caused them to lose most of their player base. but regardless if you have a handful of friends to play it with, it can be very fun. The game has alot of potential, in my biased and not objective opinion I feel like the skilltrees should have more paths that are exclusive with each other and have a bigger impact on certain aspects of the game or your character. The perks you can buy between rounds however are really interesting, the reload and ammo capacity perks are flat buffs and seem like they would be boring, but substantially changing the reload speed or ammo capacity of your weapon has a huge impact on your gunplay and feel fun to try and get/use. Two other perks effect your health recovery, one giving you a % chance on hit to steal life (which feels awesome). and the other regenerates your health passively as long as you aren't in combat, I love both of these as healing options. There are also perks that buff your buildings or ability to build and most interesting two perks that give you a increasingly more powerful buff depending on your ability to land shots. One of them multiplies your cash gain but starts at 1, slowly increasing for every shot you land and completely resetting back to 1 if you miss a shot. The other works the same but for headshot damage, and only increases when you hand a headshot, resetting back to 0 (with a little leniency) if you miss a target entirely like the cash perk. To me those last two perks make me feel like im playing a super unique and rewarding build and I wish the game had more options like that to explore. The lack of more content like that is one of the only real grievances I have with the game, the other is that while there is (sorta) two interesting overworld bosses and they are interesting I too wish there were more variety of them. The necromancer is a very interesting boss that I enjoy seeing, though I wish it's ai would do more like sit outside of the players defenses (not across the map) and try to attrition them, forcing the players to prioritize hunting down the boss. The other boss ive seen looks like it is just a brute that prioritizes defenses like turrets but im not entirely sure if thats how it was intended. Personally I really like a boss that tries to cripple your defense over killing you and its interesting if thats more unique to them, substantially less so if every other boss without a special AI ends up doing the same thing. Despite what I said about wishing there was more content and such my opinion is still very positive of the game and I think its a much more creative and fun alternative to stuff like cod zombies and killing floor.

Watered down cod zombies, which isn't a bad thing. I enjoy the simplicity and straight forwardness this game offers.

Ultimate Zombie Defense 2 is a fast-paced tower defense game that plunges players into a relentless battle against waves of the undead. Building upon the foundation of its predecessor, this sequel amps up the intensity with improved visuals, a broader variety of enemies, and deeper strategic elements. The game captures the essence of classic tower defense gameplay while injecting enough new content and challenges to keep both newcomers and seasoned players engaged for hours on end. At its core, Ultimate Zombie Defense 2 tasks players with defending a series of increasingly difficult levels by strategically placing towers and using special abilities to fend off hordes of zombies. The game features a diverse arsenal of defensive options, ranging from basic gun turrets and flame throwers to more specialized units like sniper towers and electrified fences. Each tower type has unique strengths and upgrade paths, encouraging players to experiment with different combinations to find the most effective strategies. The placement of towers is crucial, as players must anticipate enemy paths and optimize coverage to prevent zombies from breaching their defenses. One of the standout features of Ultimate Zombie Defense 2 is the variety of zombies players face. The game introduces numerous enemy types with distinct behaviors and resistances, including fast runners, armored zombies, and even explosive variants that can damage nearby towers. This diversity demands constant adaptation and prevents the gameplay from becoming repetitive. Additionally, boss zombies appear at intervals, providing high-stakes challenges that require careful planning and quick thinking to overcome. The escalating difficulty curve is well balanced, offering a steady increase in complexity without feeling unfair. Visually, the game embraces a colorful and slightly cartoonish style that makes the zombie apocalypse feel energetic rather than grim. The environments are detailed and varied, with backgrounds that change as players progress through different levels, adding a sense of progression and immersion. Tower and zombie animations are smooth and expressive, enhancing the overall polish of the game. The sound design complements the visuals well, with satisfying gunfire effects, distinct zombie noises, and an energetic soundtrack that keeps adrenaline levels high during intense waves. Ultimate Zombie Defense 2 also offers a range of game modes and challenges, adding significant replay value. Beyond the standard campaign, players can engage in survival modes that test their endurance against endless waves or time-limited challenges that push strategic efficiency to the limit. Leaderboards and achievements provide additional goals for competitive players, encouraging them to refine their tactics and climb the ranks. The inclusion of upgrades and unlockable content further motivates players to continue progressing and experimenting with different defense setups. While the game succeeds in many aspects, it’s worth noting that the complexity and fast pace may overwhelm some casual players initially. The need to constantly monitor multiple fronts and manage resources efficiently demands attention and quick decision-making. However, the game’s tutorial and early levels do a good job of easing players into the mechanics, allowing them to build confidence before facing tougher challenges. In summary, Ultimate Zombie Defense 2 is a robust and engaging tower defense game that offers a fresh and exciting take on the zombie survival genre. Its blend of diverse towers, enemy types, and escalating challenges creates a dynamic experience that rewards strategic thinking and adaptability. With polished visuals, immersive sound design, and multiple game modes, it delivers plenty of content and replayability for fans of tower defense games and zombie-themed action alike. Rating: 8/10

Game can be described as a mix of Killing Floor 1 (classes, monsters, art style) with oldschool COD Nazi Zombies. (barricading windows, pack-a-punch machines, mystery boxes) and some tower defense mechanics (building defenses and turrets) and soft roguelike elements. It's an interesting mix. Currently the game is in early access, and it lacks map variety, and gunplay and gore is not very satisfying, but this can hopefully improve in the future.

As someone who has played Left 4 Dead 2 and Killing Floor 2 for thousands of hours, I appreciate the clear inspiration that this game got from them. While obviously not on their level, Ultimate Zombie Defense 2 delivers a simple but fun wave-based zombie killing experience, with a perk system to justify replaying the current few maps it provides. As it's still in Early Access (as it seems most games are nowadays), there's still a lot to be added, improved and fixed. I hope the developer doesn't give up on the game as it has a lot of potential. At the time this review is being written, there have been around 15-20 online players and a few servers - the game seems to be specially popular in Asia, so if you're in another continent get ready to either have a high ping or host your own lobby and maybe not getting it fully populated.
