**Dying Light** Dying Light is one of those zombie games that manages to make simple movement feel incredibly satisfying. The parkour system is easily the highlight of the game. Running across rooftops, jumping between buildings and escaping hordes of infected makes Harran feel like a playground where every street and rooftop can become an escape route. The day and night cycle is another great addition. During the day, you can explore, loot and complete missions relatively safely, but once night falls, everything changes. The atmosphere becomes much more tense, and suddenly running through the city feels like a matter of survival. The melee combat is brutal and satisfying, especially when you start upgrading your weapons and skills. There is something incredibly fun about modifying a weapon and then testing it on a group of zombies. The RPG progression also gives you a constant reason to explore and improve your character. The story isn't anything revolutionary, and some missions can become repetitive, with plenty of fetch quests and predictable moments. The characters and writing are also not always as strong as the gameplay. But fortunately, the core gameplay is good enough to carry the experience. Dying Light really shines when you're simply free-roaming the city, parkouring across rooftops, looking for supplies and trying to survive whatever happens next. It also has a great co-op experience, making the chaos even more enjoyable with friends. **Pros:** + Excellent parkour system + Great day/night cycle + Brutal and satisfying melee combat + Huge open world to explore + Lots of weapons, upgrades and activities + Very fun co-op **Cons:** - Story can be predictable - Some missions become repetitive - A few frustrating mission designs - Some technical issues Overall, Dying Light is a fantastic open-world zombie game. The base game masterfully combines fluid, first-person parkour with brutal, satisfying melee combat in the sprawling city of Harran. The dynamic day-night cycle adds incredible tension, as the infected become terrifyingly aggressive after dark. The Following takes everything that made the original great and expands on it by introducing a massive new countryside map and fully customizable dune buggies, which completely changes how you traverse the world and fight the undead. Whether you're drop-kicking zombies off rooftops in the city or mowing them down in your buggy in the countryside, the gameplay remains endlessly thrilling. Both offer a fantastic co-op experience that only amplifies the fun. I always find myself coming back to Dying Light because the gameplay is just so satisfying. The parkour makes exploring the city feel fast and natural, and turning rooftops into your main path never really gets old. The melee combat has a lot of weight to it too, especially once you start crafting stronger weapons and unlocking new abilities. What really makes the game stand out is the day-and-night cycle. During the day you can take your time exploring, but once the sun goes down, everything changes. Suddenly you're running for your life, avoiding Volatiles, and every trip across the city becomes genuinely tense. The story is decent, but it's the gameplay, atmosphere, and constant sense of danger that make it such a memorable zombie game.
I actually beat this game a while ago when I grabbed it for free on Epic Games, but I bought it here for a nostalgia trip. Turns out I missed SO much stuff the first time around because I just rushed the main story. This playthrough? The exact opposite. I got totally sidetracked by side quests and now my character is ridiculously OP. Poor Jade is literally still waiting for me at the school to raid Rais's guys, while I'm just out here parkouring across the city chasing every single supply drop that falls from the sky. 10/10, would ignore the main quest again. Definitely going to keep playing.
