It's okay. Pros: Has an enriching story Has a Co-Op option Gives you a decent amount of building materials starting out Building mode is interesting Graphics are decent Gives you a good warning of when the sun is about to rise In Co-OP In order to progress the story everyone has to talk to the NPC Cons: I hate that I can't customize my character and play as a female vampire. Limestone (the main material needed to build your castle) is a b***h to find and doesn't respawn as quickly as other things (though once you get a servant at the gathering table then its not so bad) Can't move buildings, can only destroy them and rebuild somewhere else. Sometimes I get stuck on things that aren't there. The tutorial could be better. Had to learn a lot of the controls by looking them up. Gameplay overall is a little clunky Can't see the painting options for the stairs or the railings Overall, I'd recommend the game after a few patches or when it's on a better discount. Since it just released, and is in early access, I will give it a thumbs up for now.

Think V Rising with a PvE and empire building focus. Great vampire power fantasy mixed in with a solid gothic and castle builder foundation. Must play for fans of vampire games, this is very high up there for me personally as someone who plays most of them. Don't expect AAA polish (should be obvious at the pricepoint), but the offering and presentation is solid. You'll need to get a snack while the beginning of the game shaders load and be able to get over that you are roleplaying a character in an established universe, but there is a lot to love here for vampire fans... I'd even wager it may be a must buy in that case. This being early access means we still have a lot of potential in the future as well. Also... Better than VTMB2, as apparent by me playing this more than that. Just don't expect that level of presentation. TLDR; -Vampire power fantasy (3rd person ARPG-style) with form changes -Castle builder -Town and minion management -Base automation -Gothic universe with established characters and lore

Very much an early access game, but still plenty enjoyable if you enjoy building a castle with vampyric thralls doing your bidding. Pros: - Building has a fair amount of pieces to work with - Finding the ideal human to bite and enslave is fun - Voice acting feels pretty good with an enjoyable enough script to not want to skip it - Punching a rock and watching it crumble is satisfying - Exploring and finding rare items is fun - Environments are immersive Neutral: - Combat is very simple, probably too simple. I'm fine with it but others may find it lacking. - Skill tree is basic. - Some of the lighting is.. weird? Very dark in some areas while light glow can fill your entire screen from some objects. Think it needs some adjustments. - Camera stuck to one side, I prefer it centred. Cons: - Servants talk too much when you're near them, please shut up I've heard your 4 lines already - Would like a way to hold down the painting button while painting pieces rather than clicking on each one individually - Playing as a pre-made character with zero customisation, also no female option for the host/single player - Bat form animations need some work they look so silly - Occasional small non-game breaking bugs/jank is common, assuming it will be worked on over time

Okay so very Rough Early access. 1: you can't play female as the host for co-op or on single player 2: no character creation, and if playing as female on single player/co-op gets added i doubt character generation will be added, or at best a barebones one. Now for the actual game If you have played V-rising and Conan Exiles that would give you a good indicator of what you get. But it is at least here and now a watered down version of both, leaving you with a meh after taste. V-Rising is more isometric true, but Turning humans into vampires are more fun and easier use them for resource gathering or defense. Conan Exile had a 18+ rated Character Generator which was well ahead of its time and excellent building with support for mods which made conan exiles one of the best survival horror rpg action games as modders breathed longivety into the game, and Funcoms Dune dropped the ball there with its MMO hybrid mess. But yeah Bloodlord rising has half baked traits of both. To find the really good humans to turn into vampires you need to do a lot of leg work in aristocrat form and honestly between the amount of blood your dungeon core need and the interval between inquesitor attacks on your outposts the game gets a bit fallout 4 "Settlement under attack" constant loop going on. Even with a Heroic Vampire (gained from story main quest) and 3 Decent Defense rating humans defending an outpost you can still lose it, and that can make even 100% loyalty humanoid vampires flee(leave your community) permanently. Which means even more chasing down rumors about villagers to find someone with "Trained Guard ect" traits to replace the one you lost. In short the idea i love, the atmosphere i love, decent voice actors, but it is more a lump of coal than a diamond in the rough at the moment, to much micromanagment and tedious routines. You can't exactly spend time gathering resources and building with constant attacks from Inquisition, combat isnt exactly fun, stealth is totally wonky and all these things need to be fixed before launch and then some. It needs HEAVY polish and more features before it can be as good as I belive it can be. So ultimatly thumbs up but that can easily become a thumbs down if nothing gets fixed. As the game is now, early access lump of coal, it is barly playable and I bought 2 copies one for me and one for my wife we had hoped for a better V-rising but as it is now, not even close but again early access so we will hope the developers get around to polish this very rough lump of coal into a proper gem. for the building is decent enough, worth the price at least. but there are far better survival RPGs out there. V-Rising for a vamp theme, Conan exiles for a gritty dark one, Palworld for well Pals with uzis, Overthrown for lifting up your sawmill and super dash into trees for quick and hillarious resource gathering, VEIN for a zombie modern day dealio and so on. Bloodlords have a lot of competition and while the idea is solid it will need plenty of tweaks and polish to match or surpass other similar games.

So far so good, I think I wanted something more like a RPG (wanted to make my own vampire not be some random dude) and this does have some of those elements but the game really wants you to focus on base building and getting vampire thralls to do tasks around your castle. Only 90 minutes in so hoping some more gameplay options open up as I go. If you like vampires and base building you will probably like this. Game usually runs smooth but I have had a few instances of lagging and stutter but, that is to be expected with this being the first day of early access.
