The first three hours are basically on the rails as a framing device/tutorial before the main game starts. The world itself is bigger and more detail-rich than you'd expect for a $10 game. It hits all the "SNES era JRPG" tropes in terms of interface design and style. I appreciate there's a minor amount of hand-holding-- automatic quest-logging, warning if you walk into an overleveled scene-- without it feeling too aggressive. Most of all, I find the characters engaging-- even the minor NPC vampires have individual dialogue and feel thought through.

Pretty impressive game. Blood meter, ability to feed off enemies. Frenzy, summons, and a slew of powers. Beautiful art. Surprisingly good storytelling. Please add the rest of this trilogy to Steam or help me locate where I can get them 🙏

Well, first, dont be surprised by tons of german reviews and guides as english translation was added only recently. I usually dont bother with RPGMaker games, unless its horror-quests. But this game is good, albeit a bit grindy sometimes. This occasional grindiness comes mostly from the fact that fights here can be hard, and you need to pay attention to things. The plot is okay too. So basically, if you like pixel rpg games with hard gameplay and decent plot, then it is a good option.

It is a good game. If you liked the VD1 and VD2 games then it is a must play. BUT It is no way a modern game design. The scaling is awful. The last dungeon ist brutal hard in contrast to the rest of the game. The endings are all not satisfying. It gets really grindy at the end and you just want to end the game asap. Maybe I should not have played all the 51 hours in one go :P

I can only recommend this game in case you already have experience with the series. As the game is very similar to the games that came before it you should roughly know what to expect. Personally I think it's the best out of the 3 Vampires Dawn games.
