Pretty cool game, but there is one mechanic that really feels out of place. This game has something called Prestige, which allows you to go reset your progress for some really unnotable changes. I don't think I would honestly care all that much about it if not for the detriment it causes to the game. (this talks about the prestige mechanic, although as the devs have commented, they have made strides to improve it later in time after I had interacted with the system.) So I played this game with a good friend of mine, and at some point we both hit prestige at the same time. Then, suddenly, all the spells, signature inks, tomes, etc, all of it got undone. You might think that this is normal, plenty of games have a similar resetting mechanic, but in those games you get a tangible benefit that makes getting back easier. This game doesn't have that. Its basically just a full reset button that puts a number next to your name for the amount of times you have pressed it. Now maybe this was changed since we last played, but this reset basically caused us to completely drop the game since everything we had been working to unlock (spells, tomes, inks, all progression, etc) was brushed away with nothing to show for it. It honestly felt really demoralizing and disheartening, and I feel like the creators only included this as a token way to try and extend the game's runtime since you really only get to this point once you have reached the end of the game. I have since returned and grinded my way back up almost to the second prestige, but I would never willingly press that button now that I have gone through its pains once. The whole game is fun because of the many combinations you can make. Even in just the hub area, you can choose three unique spells to equip, a signature ink which massively changes the gameplay, various passive upgrades which you can only enable a select few of at a given time, to play from many different tomes (basically levels), and many different modifiers for the tomes to make them more challenging in unique ways. Its really fun, and you unlock these through playing the game, but prestige kicks you down by removing all this choice. I have no idea how the creators thought this was a good idea. The only other real kinda gripe I have with this game is the performance. Now I have some real beefy hardware, for the current time at least, im talking a RTX4060 and similarly powerful other components, yet with all this power, the inevitably game drops to 10 fps or lower after playing in the endless mode for a few loops. Its not a graphics issue, it has to do with unoptimised code. Maybe this was just happening because I used a sort of flamethrower type thing on my primary weapon, but whenever I attacked my fps would drop from in the hundreds down to 10. Actually one other thing, some of the balancing seems really non-existent. The red signature ink (letting you drian health from enemies), the yellow ink (dealing massive damage, at least doubling it but can easily go way higher with items), and the orange ink (giving you a turret that also heals you), are just objectively much better to use than something like the green ink (gives you a random follower which shoots at stuff) or cyan ink (gives you armor that you cna sacrifice to deal damage). This game has a big problem around healing really, most things in the game deal a lot of damage (on high difficulty levels at least) but you almost never get things to heal you (unless you are really lucky with your item spawns), forcing you to really only use 'meta' inks since you just die otherwise. Maybe its a skill issue, I dont know, but I hate that I feel like I need to use red, yellow, or orange inks in order to be able to play the game with any kind of effectiveness. I like the ideas of the other inks, but they simply dont have the survivability required in order to keep up. But other than those things, honestly a fun game,

Thought there wasn't a lot of depth at first, but as I unlocked more ink colours it became apparent there are a ton of potential builds and play styles. Each ink colour feels pretty unique, and even the ones I thought would be underwhelming ended up being fun in their own way. Great game, great mechanics. Has the potential to evolve in a top tier roguelike.

Very good, if not a bit buggy. The gameplay is like Risk of Rain or Wizard of Legend. The art style is like Inkbound. It has very well designed run-upgrades, and the legendaries actually feel impactful. Gameplay loop is also rewarding, and you start getting the meta progression pretty quick later. Bugs: - Ice skating room only gives a scroll to the host. - The host gains more meta currency than the partners (80 vs 50) during endless runs. - The channel knives don't all hit correctly, especially when channeling larger values. - There are some frame drop issues when a lot of hit detection is happening, particularly at endgame. Doesn't seem to be an FPS problem more than an engine or renderer problem. - Sometimes the game launches minimized and can't be tabbed into. - Sometimes after interacting with the quest board, your camera becomes locked on the board. - Sometimes scrolls don't auto-pickup for non-hosts, deleting them. Aside from bugs, balance seems to be a little skewed. There are some spells and autos that are just objectively better. The element colors are all pretty well balanced though.

When i first started playing the game, I was expecting something like risk of rain (of no fault of the dev's branding it that way) and was a little dissapointed by what turned out to be more of an arena shooter with few abilities (a movement, an "auto attack" and a "spell" with a "class" specific ability. after some playing and earning unlocks, I quickly learned what looked simple was actually a frantic and hilariously scaling roguelite with tons of potential for builds. been playing in coop and having a blast. after almost 25 hours, theres still over 100 power's still to unlock and i havent even tried every class. any roguelite that can have me laughing out loud about the build i've assembled is doing it right.
