This game is pretty awesome, kind of like Half Life: Alyx if it had an even better sense of humor. It's well designed, the campaign is substantial, there's a lot to unlock, there's a NG+, and you unlock alternate characters to play as that completely change the gameplay. And if all that isn't enough, there's also custom level support. There are a couple minor things I wasn't crazy about, though. 1) I'm not a fan of forced hybrid locomotion where you have to use smooth loco and teleport for basic traversal. It's not that bad here but I'm just not a fan of it, in general. 2) While the weapons are well designed and fun, the entire first half of the game doesn't really showcase them that well. For basically the entire first half of the game I was just using my shotgun as a melee weapon since that was the only thing that did adequate damage. *Eventually* you get some good weapons and some upgrades and things get better but some of the early weapons could have used some slight buffs. Overall, this is a fantastic game and one of the best campaign shooters for VR so you have to buy it.
This game, alongside Half Life Alyx & Boneworks, are the best representatives of the potential of VR games. They are large, immersive adventures that feel good to play and have a good amount of physical feel. The campaign was great fun throughout the whole thing and considering the small size of the team that made it, its scale is super impressive. It can feel random and ridiculous at times, but that is what made it so charming and fun. In addition, the other main highlight of this game is the great feeling guns. I used almost all of them a lot just because of how fun it is to use them. They also feel really good to reload and to shoot, making combat pretty fun. There is a decent amount of enemy variety. This game is just a pretty goofy but impressive adventure and that is why it's so fun.
