It's surprisingly better than I expected. It is quite atmospheric. You really get the feeling like you are in eustearn european crime thriller like Kajínek or movies about Krejčíř. The driving feels quite good too. Cars are very nice. Of course it has a lot of jank in it. - The characters often clip with cars, or cars with each other, or cars just disappear. - I hate the design of the main character. You can make even this purposfully unappealing design compelling. Look at Letho from witcher 2 or Bernard Loredo from witcher 2. It is the main character there should be a big care put in how he looks. Same with Laura. - The optimisation is a mess. There are stutters all the time and the LODs are very agressive. - The animations are pretty bad. - Missing FSR and DLSS which would help with performance. - Very little graphic options. - A lot of graphical bugs related to antialiasing. If you can look past these and you look for linear city action like Mafia or GTA I can recommend it. Of course it's not as polished as any of those but it's also way cheaper on release. Edit: After playing a bit more I must say it feels rather disjointed. The story feels like a mesh up of a lot of news articles one for each chapter and it doesn't really explain itself properly.

The game is great, and the "Wild Wild 90s" has a great meta inserted into the graphics, or the driving. The vehicle physics are great and fun at the same time, cars hitting pedestrians and police not giving a f**k. The mission lore giving you a real event inspiration at end of every mission is, not just facinating but worrysome at the same time. My only downside is, and I know it is hard, but I would like to have more out of mission content, and not necisseraly with animations or etc. But its just shame, that the world is liveless same as was in Mafia 1. For example stalking an important figure, taking pohotos and selling them to newspapers, you already have this mechanic, just not outside of the main missions. Because after 5 hrs, the gameplay start to be stale and bland. Nevertheless, I am excited for the full release to finish this incredible story.

This game is so Slovakian as I was playing the glass of water I was drinking suddenly and without explanation turned into a glass of Golden Pheasant (Zlatý Bažant) beer.

Yes it's janky as hell, but I'm actually really enjoying this game. It reminds me of Old School 2002 Mafia. The opening seems to take a lot of influence of that game. The cut-scenes are hilarious, it took me a minute to realize that there is no animation and everything is just a freeze frame, but that kinda just adds to the janky charm of the game. I really dig the soft body physics damage. It constantly reminds me that I am a horrible driver. Gun mechanics are so-so. Nothing that blows you away but it gets the job done. Points for slide recoil animation on pistols! I'll also say a surprise came with stealth, your character slinks around corners in cover surprisingly well and I did not expect that. Story is pretty good. The "Average guy has to turn to crime" type stories are so saturated that it's hard to stand out with originality and I think this game does what it can well enough with what its got. The setting alone is a breath of fresh air honestly. I've always had an interest in European locations ever since playing Hitman 2: Silent Assassin levels set in St. Petersburg and Moscow. It's definitely GTA/Mafia on a budget, but I'm kinda over these AAA companies with their soulless games these days. At least this one dreams big and definitely executes on a lot. Huge props to the team for creating the world, it does look really good. Optimization isn't stellar, I've had several times where the game just freezes for a good 10-12 seconds before unfreezing like nothing happened, but that's okay. I've been playing around with different resolutions and fullscreen/windowed to see what works best. Overall For $30 ($21 on sale) I say it's well worth it, jank and all. You get a lot of fun and a pretty good story.

This game had a rough start, but the devs turn it around with time in a huge way! Eastern Europe theme is interesting and you can really see all the hard work that a small studio put into this big game, even though its not a triple-A title. Big ups!
