Fun space game, especially with friends. Sadly the replay value is kinda mid. Same enemies, gunplay feels same as well. 5% faster shooting due to leveling does not make the game feel like "more content". Get in sale. 25€ is a bit much for 15hrs of "new" content.

Its a fun game. I personally would an enjoy an option for blueprints to carry over between voyages, as after about 20 hours / level 18 or so, I am finding the xp progression not enough for hardware variety and half the playtime is on the starter gear still it feels like. Getting rare drops isn't as fun when you know they will only be something you can use for 1-2 missions, and boss loot seems entirely pointless since they are the end of the run generally. Maybe I am missing a higher tier of skill where you can go indefinitely, but it doesn't feel that way currently.

played 2 person coop and had a good time - looks like I got about 40 hours in. We probably could have stopped at 25-30. If you are looking to waste some time with a friend, its a fun enough game. The game is pretty shallow. For 2 player, someone flies the ship, someone mans the turrets and fixes the ship. Flying requires no real skill, just blast it and put the turret on the correct side of the objective. The shooting is your basic point and click shooting - again, no depth in these skills. Basically the first few levels of the game are all you get just repeated over and over. There is no free-flying here, you stay level and can ascend or descend only slightly. Most of the fun comes from figuring out which ship modules you like and where its best to place them and from figuring out the best way to go about the mission objectives but after that its just rinse and repeat. We encountered very few issues or bugs. The feel of walking, running, and jumping are awful. I didnt realize movement could feel this bad in (year of release). Its not a deal-breaker but it stands out. Give it a try on sale if you have a buddy to play with and your bored. Not sure this is a great experience with single player though.

I was sceptical at first considering that ships move more like submarines and the lower visual quality of ship interiors (materials being stretched or scaled inconsistently for example). The gameplay is very solid when playing with a group of friends. The game absolutely excels at the multi-crew gameplay and creating great tension and difficulty that wants to make you play again. I also have to admit that I was confused about the differences between Void Crew and Jump Space. After playing I would say the game is more focused on the multi-crew aspect and managing the ship while being more of a challenging rogue-like which different runs each time. One of my favourite aspects is that changing and upgrading components is very physicalized, so you have to make decisions where to place different components. These decisions also impact the following gameplay, be it navigating the ship in such a way that you can have all the weapons on one broadside while the other side of the ship contains the other crucial components. Or managing the energy consumption of various components and running on higher energy consumption to keep various system active while frantically keeping fuses, valves and alignments in order to keep the ship online. As someone that really enjoys that kind of engineer gameplay I can really recommend the game with the right friends and believe other games should take a little inspiration from Void Crew! (Looking at you Star Citizen and Jump Space)

This is not the first of its kind, but it is the first that felt polished and popular enough to play with friends. Their ongoing development and expanding of the game is a breath of fresh air during a time when certain game publishers kill their own games. It came out about a year before Jump Ship Demo and Wildgate, the other two big contenders in this space (pun intended), and you can see Jump Space and Void Crew influencing each other with each of their updates. If you like customizing your ship modules and don't like FPS, then Void Crew is for you; but if you just wanna fly the ship and you do like FPS, then try Jump Space and Wildgate. Of the three, this one is the most frustrating, especially when attempting to play solo. With a good team and good communication, Void Crew tickles the brain more than the other two do. Just like with any rogue-like or even like with Fortnite, do not let a loss get to you as almost nothing carries over to the next run; just enjoy the journey/fight until you either head back to liquidate loot, or blow up and still get XP and some aesthetic unlocks.
