It was such a beautiful game with a wonderful message. You're an unimportant bard but try to your best to be someone special and save the world. You go through ups and downs and have times where you are heartbroken and don't know if what you're doing is right. It felt so real and really connected to the times I've felt that myself but you stick it through just like our little bard does. Also the fact that the achievements are all from the hero's pov really makes it feel even more real that the hero is the one and not you. The little details are so much fun and has one of the best credits I've seen.

Happy birthday to my favorite quirky little indie game! Hard to believe it has been this long lol. Back before I had the game, there was a no commentary 11 hour playthrough on youtube I used to watch when I was sick or feeling unwell. I have watched it in its entirety at least 4 times. Somehow, this little game managed to keep my attention even when it wasn't me in the wheel. When I finally got the game a few months ago, even I already knew how the story was going to go, the game kept my investment and intrigue the entire way through anyways. Stuff I like about this game: - The game has a very cute cardboard cutout art style! Every area has a different color pallete, and each and every one of them looks gorgeous. The character design is also peak. - The dialogue in this game is really good, especially that of the two main characters. I love how they bounce off of each other and how they grow alongside one another. It really made the game a unique play for me. - The background character dialogue is also worth a mention. Each background character, no matter how big or small, feels like their own person, much like in Undertale. A special mention goes to Francisco and Penny. Their dynamic is so funny and I wish we got to see more of them lol. - The game stars a Bard, so of course the game has got to have good music. Special shoutouts go to the music for Delphi and Moonscape, they really bring out the flavor of each area. I LOVE the detail of the Bard singing in the same key as the background music of each area! It makes it so that you can sing along to most of the soundtrack! genuinely such a peak detail. The title cards for each act also contain a short song snippet that contains the leitmotifs used during the act, which is SOO COOLLLL omllll. - Not many people mention it, but I love the sound design in this game. It does a really good job of enhancing the dream-like environments that are often explored. (I love how the Bard's steps sound like a wind up toy in Chismet bro its so cooollll). Also, the background noise for the scene select??? So cute and filled with detail!!! The devs really must have had a lot of love for this game. I'm pretty sure Em is credited for doing the sound design? Thanks, Em. Genuinely peak work. One of my favorite things about this game is the sheer amount of teeny tiny details added into the game to make it ever so slightly more flavorful. From the puppet play aestethic for the scene select, to the ability to sing to the fish in the Pirate islands, to the dance mechanic, each little detail shows exactly how much love the devs had for this game during its creation. It definitely helped me love the game all the more. I'd like to say thank you to the devs, with all my heart, for gifting the world this game.

If you grew up watching 2010's cartoons that started off small and quaint before ballooning into existential, "save-the-universe" stakes, Wandersong is liable to scratch a similar itch. Whether that's for better or worse depends on the person.
