Let me start by saying this: I am Brazilian. Despite being the peak of modern-setting RTS this game is priced insanely. I feel like Eugen puts absolutely no effort whatsoever into localization of pricing, which is very unfair and dumb of them to do . As it stands, this 2014 game is priced at 12% of a whole month of minimum wage in Brazil, and it is 5% of my own wage. While I talk about it to friends and acquaintances, I simply cannot recommend them to buy it here, it'd be an irresponsible decision, and if I were to be getting it nowadays I simply could not. This should not be the case, it should not happen for an over 10-year-old game. Eugen should seriously stop doing this and break the absolute stereotype of french studios. Now with that aside : I am grateful to have been able to buy this game, I have not put enough hours into it as I'd have liked, but with my play time, split between this, Escalation and Airland Battle, I have found it to be an almost perfect combination of complexity and depth, and playability. They clearly matured a bit in Steel Division by bringing some mechanics that made the game more approachable, but there's much to appreciate on the sheer volume of units here, the variability of decks, the amount of systems. You still need a good grasp of specific unit type mechanics, but in my opinion they are not the greatest part of the learning curve if you have any sort of inclination or interest in military units and/or equipment, or even games that have them. No, the greatest challenge is learning how to effectively use those mechanics. It is literally the strategy. Many people are not used to RTS having a unit-buy system I'd say, they still imagine buildings, builder classees, etc. For those people I say: Come prepared! This is a game that pulls from the tradition set by Ground Control, Blitzkrieg, World in Conflict, Men of War, it is a very balanced approach to basics of modern warfare with good complexity and realism, with mechanics that make it playable in a game format. If this game was more reasonably priced, I'd have gotten all of the DLCs. Unquestionable recommendation (to people Eugen allows to afford it).

Wargame: Red Dragon delivers unparalleled tactical depth and historical military fetishism wrapped in an engine that makes destruction beautiful. It's simultaneously the pinnacle of strategy game design and a disturbing example of how we've commodified conflict into entertainment. You'll learn more about Cold War military hardware than most history courses teach while completely disconnecting from the human cost such knowledge represents in reality.

This game is the most angering painful experience you'll ever have with an RTS. I hated every moment of micro. I hate this game. 10/10 5 Stars I'd buy this again in a heartbeat.

Best RTS ever made, 4,500 hours in (yeah.. played since beta..), tried warNO but between the trash community/Moderators, lack of variety (theres literally only like 12 divs if you pay enough consisting of 6 nations) and nearly unplayable red bias "balancing" im going back to Red Dragon an hope anyone reading this joins me. Wargame Red Dragon is the better game dont listen to the Ai review inflation.
