If you're reading this, that means you've thought about getting into the Wolfenstein series, and this is the perfect place to be for that. I'll be reviewing the game specifically for someone who is just considering playing it, and in separate sections. It will contain no spoilers. I hope you find it useful! [LORE] Nazi Germany has won the most deadliest war in human history thanks to an ancient technology and science that is found and twisted by them in order to help the total war effort, most notably, by General Deathshead. This Nazi-controlled world shows the extremes of inhumane brutality, ruthlessness, ugliness and absolute power. It's scary. You, as William Joseph Blazkowicz can't tolerate that. There is still hope, there is bound to be people that are against this tyranny and willing to fight and resist it. So the fight continues, this time not to win an ideology or land or material, but to win freedom. There are themes of George Orwell's 1984, so if you're fan of that novel, you will very much like the lore and world of Wolfenstein as well. If you like the lore of games like DOOM, Dead Space, Middle Earth series or games alike, you will most likely enjoy Wolfenstein too due to the similarity in the theme of resisting and fighting a powerful evil while being outnumbered. This is a game about hope. About resistance. About humanity. [GAMEPLAY] Incredibly rich, FPS, story driven game filled with neat gameplay mechanics that is also immersive. You're a one man army, kill all the Nazis in various ways and explore a variety of weapons, tools, places, difficulties, enemies, obstacles, horrors and whatnot to achieve your goals. Get creative, get angry and transfer that energy into your weapons. Relatively easy and usually dumb stealth, but very enjoyable and rewarding. Beautiful mission designs. The type that has you actively thinking about it, wondering what's right and what's not, exploring possibilities, failing, trying again better next time, developing your own preferred style of killing Nazis. Very nice animations and movement. Can't get tired of it. Once again, if you're a fan of DOOM's gameplay, you will most definitely like this gameplay as well, even though there are naturally some big differences. Other games like Metro, Prey, Dishonored resemble this type of gameplay to some degree. [GRAPHICS AND OPTIMIZATION] Artistic, beautiful graphics. It's not ultra realistic and it's not underdeveloped either. It's like a painting, it's truly artistic realistic with nice details. Optimization is really good as well. I've never experienced even a single stutter or hardware problem playing this game, and I believe it should run pretty well on most devices. I had to use VSync because of the constant screen tearing I experienced without it, and that is definitely a complaint, but not that much of a big deal for me. I got used to VSync's delay quite quickly. [LENGTH] Medium length. It took me about 9 hours to complete on ÜBER difficulty, and I didn't try to get all the secrets and upgrades, but I did certainly pay attention to all the details and looked for as much secrets and upgrades as I thought reasonable, so it's fair to say I didn't rush the game. All and all, I think it can take somewhere between 6 to 12 hours to complete, depending on how you play and how good you are at the game. [AUDIO AND SOUNDTRACK] Neat. It's Mick Gordon on the soundtrack and that is enough to say about it, but besides the music, everything else about the audio, the voice actors, the sound quality, etc is absolutely amazing. It's original, it's special, it's Wolfenstein. [GOLD BARS] Nicely priced. It gets nice discounts too, so you might want to wait a little while if you don't want to pay the original price. [BUGS] I did not encounter any significant bug to mention here. Clean game. [RATING] A gem in all of gaming. The type of game that you can talk about for hours and not get tired of it. The type of game that surpassed the original standards. Maybe not revolutionary, but surely memorable and worthy of respect. 9.5/10 [TIPS] 1. spend some time in the hideout. Discover secrets, help people in need, interact with people and things, listen to conversations, read the newspapers, address the details and enjoy them. It makes the game all the more interesting in my opinion. 2. After you kill a super soldier, shoot off the armor plates using its own MG60. There you have it, free extra armor for your next encounter of whatever atrocity they throw at you. 3. Fergus, Wyatt, doesn't matter. In the end, you will think either decision was a mistake.
My father fought Nazis. He was beaten and tortured in the camps. He escaped. He walked to Warsaw, fought and killed them before being captured. He then escaped again before walking out of Germany. There is no compromise with the intolerant. (and yes you should buy this game)
Not all of them stand against the time. Sadly this one in particular aged not so well as I fondly remembered when I played for the first time. So much to like but so little to experience it. First of all this game still feels and plays exactly like you imagined. Its truth to truth hardcore Wolfenstein experience but from different developers. Machine games did amazing job filling you in BJ Blaskowitz shoes and you feel like youre the weapon they should be afraid of. Not even biggest machines of nightmare contraction can destroy your spirit. Second most important thing was in my opinion weapons and gameplay feel. And there are some most brutal bloody encounters in this game. They feel authentic and real. You will be dodging and moving from every bullet they wan to land on you and it will be scary. Weapons feels meaty and biting. Every one of them feel so good and unique. Every one of them will give you tactical advantages and disadvantages. You just need to measure your gameplay style for your best deadliest options. Third was the horror and how terrible feels that period of time. Let me tell you the picture was not pretty at all. Some gruesome scary mary moments. Some nazies feels terrifying and their robot unit contractions are no better. So where lies the problem. The issue is the pacing for once. Story is all over the place and its not that good. Like Old Blood I can replay that game so many times and it give me the creeps and tha mystique feel with zombies and forbidden experience. Return to the castle Wolfenstein gives me nightmares say it bluntly. But this game for some reason its just alright it doesn’t tingle that raw moment. Even Ravens software Wolfenstein of 2009 has more spirit than this game. Biggest let down for me personally was how unfair and over tuned was highest difficulty. Its just feels to cheap. Like no fun cheap its just painfully unfair cheap. Developers tried to much with the story exposition that didn’t helped for this game. Its should be other way around: let me shoot znazies first and story later. Its not a bad game but its doesn’t hold the candle like Old Blood or Wolfenstein 2009 or Return to the castle wolfenstein
