Fun, little micro metroidvania. Good art style. Fun powers. Combat is a little stiff but otherwise pretty good.

Cute little metroidvania game. Only one thing that was totally not nice: You can mute the sfx, but there are still sfx that are not muted. Remarkable, that the game is from 2014 and it has not been fixed in 10 years. Yeah but the rest of the game is really nice. In the beginning it seemed a little bit difficult, but that was just the first impression. It became very relaxing very soon.

After beating this game here's my review. When I first played the game I had a problem trying to get the game on full screen making the screen not align properly. I played it without full screen and played it like that. In this game, you play a game that's similar to other Metriodvania games. In this game, you go around 4 planets getting upgrades to make it to the end of the game. When you play the game at first you'll have a hard time since you can easily get lost in it not knowing where to go. The game is pretty difficult when you go further. There are power-ups you can get but require different upgrades to get them. There's one for the upgrade of health and guns. There are other guns you can use to fit your play style. The upgrade that does the most damage is the most effective. If you die you have to go back to the last checkpoint or the last place you saved at. This game is pretty short and can be beaten pretty quickly but I don't recommend newcomers to retro games like this to play because of how hard it is. Get it when it's on sale since you can beat it pretty quickly and with a bundle since it's pretty cheap. I give this game an 8 out of 10. Have a good day.

Short, but generally a fun experience. Pros: [*] The gun upgrade system is interesting. [*] The character upgrades are varied and fun. [*] The bosses are challenging, but not too challenging, and I liked the way you fight the same boss with more moves each time. [*] Zero complaints about the graphics, music and sound effects. Cons: [*] Not being able to control the jump height took a little getting used to. [*] No fast travel, backtracking got a bit tedious at times. [*] Having to go into the menu to switch gun presets was a little clunky. Info: [*] The game ran too fast without turning on "throttle" in the settings. [*] Setting up my controller took a little figuring out.

Xeodrifter is a small 2D metroidvania platformer. I'm gonna start off by saying that it crashes in certain aspect ratios, I played in a 1200x720 window, that worked without problems. Bigger did crash for me, but I also didn't try them all. The way the settings/menu is done, feels weird. Its not in the game itself, but looks more like an emulator in which you use the menu bar at the top of the window to change settings. It also only has an On/Off setting for volume example, so its pretty bare bones, gotta use windows settings to turn down the volume. The game itself starts off a little on the harder side I would say, because of trying to figure out where to go first, also lots of health and weapon powerups are hidden away, so you could be running around the map much weaker than you should be! The more you find, the easier the game gets, aside from the bossfights imo. The enemies in this game will mostly just walk their path without noticing you. So its very simple, but I still had fun running around, trying to find all the things to collect, getting stronger! I wish there were at least a few more checkpoints in this game. You need to absolutely save on your ship, or all progress is lost. The checkpoints that you do get, are before and after every bossfight, but they also won't be saved if you didn't go back to your ship to save after defeating one. I liked the bossfights a lot, the design isn't crazy, but the way they build on top of each other was kinda nice, but the last one was the easiest one for me, after having lots of upgrades. All in all, cute good little game!
