If you ever wondered "what would Mega Man X be like as a roguelike?" this answers that question and the answer is "awesome." The soundtrack is solid. Boses are interesting. The plot you can uncover is a very nice touch and the controls are tight well refined. This is clearly a labor of love on the part of the developers and it shows. I can fully recommend this game.

A very competent facsimile of a MegaMan X game if it was a roguelite. It is quite an improvement over its predecessor 20XX.

Most fun I've had with a Roguelite, plus it fills the empty void in my heart due to a lack of actual Mega Man games, with or without the MMX mod

GOOD. better level chunks than the previous game and it feels more like a megaman x game. i understand why some say that they like 20xx better, but that does not mean that they should skip this one, it is better in many many ways and i do like it more. biggest changes were that bosses are not countered by specific weapons and that armors can be switched on the fly, it is also harder to stack stats, like speed and power. Level chunks are waaaaay better and I can't overstate it, 20xx had some chunks that went waaay too hard into the platforming, where you were just waiting for the moving platform while dodging lasers, this one has some of that, but it feels better crafted, more handmade.

I'll hesitantly recommend this game. I think the difficulty still needs some balancing, though they have definitely removed some of the worst offenders that were present in early access at least. As someone I'd say is an intermediate player when it comes to both Mega Man X games as well as Roguelites, I feel I have a fairly objective perspective on the game's challenge. I am all for difficult games (hell my favorite genre are shmups) but there are just certain moments where the game seems to all but force damage on you between the combination of hazards/boss attacks/additional enemies spawned during boss/mid boss encounters. What makes this so painful though is that it is VERY easy to have hits chain together and evaporate your HP due to the incredibly small amount of invincibility frames you are given upon receiving damage. I've played other better roguelites that were very challenging in their own right, but they always gave me the feeling of getting ever closer to the goal. Whether that be through well designed enemy patterns that are challenging but reasonable to learn, or via getting more powerful via the game's meta progression system. Ideally there should be a balance of both (the recent BlazBlue roguelite handles this balance expertly in my opinion). While sometimes I can feel fully responsible for my losses in this game, other times I just feel like I got killed by a sudden burst of stuff out of nowhere that I can learn very little from let alone improve off of. I don't want to sound all negative, I do enjoy this game and do feel myself improving at it and being able to at least mitigate the amount of damage I take in the more dangerous spots (it is still near impossible to completely avoid damage during some of the boss/mid boss encounters unless you have it both memorized and possess god tier reflexes or are a new type or Jedi or something). Also, while I was initially a tad underwhelmed at the roguelite aspect of the game (particularly the power fantasy element you get to feel on a good run), I've recently gotten some pretty sick combinations that resulted in some pretty impressive looking stuff so I think the game delivers on that front. Also it just controls tight and responsive, much like a good Mega Man X game. A solid game at the end of the day, but doesn't reach the heights of the very best of the genre.
