Combat feels really good. Decent weapon variety and builds. the aesthetic is well done and artwork is crisp. Follows typical roguelike format. limited by only three biomes but presents them in a metroidvania fashion to allow some exploration. Gameplay has both hub upgrades to expand loot pools as well as permanent metaprogression like increased attack power and starting health/in game currency boosts for shops. Some of the drawbacks come from the lacking the UI. This comes in terms of being able to intuitively track your stats/build information during or even after the run. For example when selecting upgrades there doesn't appear to be a single page that tells the player how many total accumulated stacks of x amount of increased ATK DMG % has been acquired mid run. Even when using meta progression to unlock a "catalog" it simply shows discovered perk upgrades found in each upgrade tree. This catalog only tracks perks discovered it does not track which ones you have selected in the run. While you can see which perks you have selected in the form of a DNA double helix table, it does NOT provide an interface on how those perks aggregate together mid run, Unique character perks are not tracked at all. All in all the experience is fun while some might see as limited in scope but still a very good time to sink time into overall recommend. Lands on the easier end of Roguelikes.
One of the best 2D roguelike games out there. It's on a par with Dead Cells in my eyes. I saw someone below saying the controls are clunky and it's unoriginal, both of which are completely untrue. It plays beautifully and whilst it clearly mirrors other classics of the genre it really brings it's own twists. if you like resources and collectables, secrets, complicated meta -progression and plenty of viable build types, this game is for you.
