So. I've played and played this game, its great. love the art style, love the responsiveness of most things. However. there's about 3 things I actively dislike, number 1. the elements aren't balanced in the slightest, you can play whatever you want, as long as you're on base difficulty. as soon as you go up in difficulty, drop out all the fun stuff you were doing, and you'd better grab those % damage stuff, cuz chain lightning isn't going to help you at all. You need to go grab the boring stuff. Number 2. The Devs seem to think that people have infinite time and actively hate you for having fun. They nerf anything that might actually help you to find the stuff you want, by adjusting prices upwards on rerolls, to get the skills that they demand that you have in order to survive. also, tons of stuff is just noninteractive. Make a blood ball, and want to shock it with chain lightning? so it bounces between the boss and the thing you stuck to the boss? Nah. Want to shoot off the glowing crystal hands on an elite that deals 11 thousand damage a second, sure you can do that, but fire doesn't stack on them, lightning doesn't bounce to them, frost doesn't chill them. and 3. ENEMIES HAVE TOO MUCH HEALTH AND DAMAGE AND BECOME IMMUNE TOO OFTEN. Sure, baseline stuff is just fine. but if you want to scale the enemies, by time passing, YOU SHOULDN'T MAKE THE ENEMY IMMORTAL FOR 15 SECONDS. AND IF THE ENEMY HAS A BEAM ATTACK, IT SHOULDN'T TICK PER FRAME AND RUIN AN HOUR LONG RUN BY DEALING 11 THOUSAND DAMAGE IN LESS THAN A SECOND. IF THE ENEMY GETS IMMUNITY FRAMES, GIVE THEM TO US TOO. If you want to phase transition with a cool animation, that's great, but stop actively punishing me for something that should be a hype moment, you want the sky to turn black on your final boss? sure? how about you stop the ink waterfall from tracking me all over the map in pitch darkness and killing me instantly. I've really tried to keep my cool with this game, but I'm running brine 30 over and over and over again, just getting instantaneously murdered by the final boss and the heralds right before him, because their damage is just absurd by the time I make it to them. Full blood run. With 3% max HP per depth, FROM THE FIRST ROOM. Dead in less than a quarter second from the prototype golem's laser. Literally just give the players 1 hp on brine level 30 if you demand perfection, then at least I know not to play this mode, and ignore the achievements entirely I want to like this game more, but honestly, the developers put in an infinite mode, and I don't think that they actually want players to play it. because there's next to no way that anyone is going to make it to that mode, unless they either get absurdly lucky, or are some type of professional.

As a roguelike, Abyssus feels repetitive and limited the one weapon per-run mechanic hurts replayability of the game. But as an FPS, it shines. The weapons feel powerful, enemies and bosses are fun to fight, and the level design is at times breathtaking. If the developers leaned into those strengths and built a full single-player FPS campaign instead of forcing the roguelike elements, Abyssus could be something truly special.

I feel like I'm playing as the big daddy from Bioshock at times in this. (with a gun) Full game absolutely worth it. Solo play is just as solid as coop. Devs just released a roadmap which includes lots of upcoming content and only paid dlc is for cosmetics and emotes. it is a Briney good time.

this game has the sauce. with more time to cook, i have no doubt it will reach great heights. as it stands, i think the $20 price tag is 100% worth it.

Fantastic game. Unfortunately getting review bombed on release because of an issue with session finder. You can still play with friends via steam invite or solo. This game does not deserve to be Mixed (64% at time of posting) because of an issue that's already being addressed and that doesn't make the game unplayable. I highly recommend this game!
