I played this on xbox way back in the day, back when Blockbuster was still a thing. I was overjoyed to see that this was on steam, and I only encountered a few bugs playing so far. If you're looking for a good sci fi third person/ first person shooter to play to scratch that Halo itch, this is the best thing.

Advent Rising is a really good sci-fi third person shooter/action-adventure game where you play as Gideon, a young pilot who is forced to evacuate from his home after the brutal invasion of a militaristic alien race called the Seekers. He later sides with the Aurelians to continue to fight and resist against the Seekers. The Aurelians were a more benevolent alien race who were skilled at diplomacy and combat. The Aurelians are able to train Gideon to master his psychic powers overtime so he can use them to his advantage. This game is basically Halo meets Outcast when you think about it. Sadly, the hopes of Advent Rising becoming a trilogy is faded to obscurity and two potential sequels were cancelled. The game is very enjoyable and fun to play like it has a lot of potential to be a good franchise. You are lucky to be equipped with good weapons and psychic powers to defend yourself. Overall, the graphics were cool, the music in the game was good and the plot actually makes sense thanks to a couple of sci-fi writers involved. I bet it took them a lot of time and effort to release this game to the world. Overall Rating: 10/10

I wish modern Xbox studios would bring this back. This game felt incredible back on the original Xbox but does not adapt well to the PC experience. Definitely one of the games of all time tho.

I originally played this game in 2006 on the original xbox, renting the game from a Blockbuster. I instantly fell in love with it's goofy jokes and humor. The story may feel a bit rushed and some cutscenes may be a bit scuffed, but even today in the year of 2024 the story and gameplay still hold up. Advent Rising still remains as one of my most favorite sci-fi games and I still wish it got a sequel to this day.
