Andarilho, developed and published by SC Jogos, is a small-scale survival sandbox that attempts to capture the familiar rhythm of scavenging, crafting, and exploration, but presents it through a distinctly pared-down and experimental lens. The game begins with little more than the player embodying “a guy with a backpack,” dropped into a sparse open environment and tasked with nothing more than staying alive. From the outset, the core loop revolves around searching for food and water, hunting for resources, crafting items, and exploring a small map that alternates between urban areas and surrounding stretches of wilderness. While this setup is a well-worn formula within the survival genre, Andarilho approaches it with simplicity, offering only the essentials needed to create a framework for survival gameplay. The inclusion of vehicles is one of the more notable features, providing mobility across the map and giving players a change of pace from the slow scavenging cycle. The ability to drive adds a sense of variety and helps create the illusion of a wider world to traverse, though the physics and responsiveness of these vehicles have often been criticized for their stiffness. Beyond the base survival mechanics, the developer has added content through DLCs, such as aliens and zombies, to introduce additional threats and a sense of unpredictability. These additions diversify the threats players encounter, but they also highlight how much of the core game relies on external gimmicks rather than deeper systemic design. At its best, Andarilho offers moments of quiet experimentation. For players who enjoy survival games in their most stripped-down form, the routine of managing hunger, thirst, and resource gathering can be mildly engaging, and the open-ended nature of the experience allows players to set their own goals. The simplicity of the crafting and building systems makes them easy to grasp, and the low system requirements ensure accessibility for a wide range of hardware. Some players have praised the game’s potential, noting that despite its rough edges, it has the foundation to evolve into a more rewarding experience if supported with significant updates and refinements. However, many of the game’s weaknesses become apparent after only a few hours. The world is small and limited, with invisible barriers and transparent walls that make exploration feel restricted rather than liberating. Wildlife and environmental detail are sparse, which leaves the world feeling empty rather than alive. Crafting, while functional, lacks depth or variety, often repeating the same simple recipes without rewarding experimentation. The lack of overarching goals or narrative progression means that survival quickly becomes an exercise in routine, without the tension or purpose that drives players forward in more robust titles. Technical polish is another issue that undermines the experience. Bugs and quirks are common, ranging from poorly tracked survival stats to erratic AI behavior. Driving, while promising on paper, is hindered by clunky physics that make it more frustrating than fun. Performance can also be inconsistent, with some players reporting stutters or crashes despite the modest visuals. Combined with accusations that much of the game is built from generic or reused assets, these technical shortcomings contribute to the perception that Andarilho feels more like a prototype or proof of concept than a fully realized survival experience. The player base reflects this uneven reception. While the game once attracted attention and even reached a peak of over two thousand concurrent players during a spike in interest, its active community has since dwindled to almost none. On Steam, the reviews sit at a “Mixed” rating, with about two-thirds of players offering a positive impression while the rest highlight the lack of content, shallow mechanics, and technical flaws. For some, the game provides a cheap distraction with just enough novelty to justify its low price, but for many others, it is a forgettable entry in an already crowded genre. Ultimately, Andarilho embodies both the allure and the pitfalls of indie survival design. Its minimalistic approach offers glimpses of what could have been—a lightweight, accessible sandbox with room for creativity—but its lack of depth, polish, and meaningful long-term goals keep it from competing with more established survival titles. For players curious about indie experiments or those content with short bursts of resource gathering and exploration, it may hold some appeal, especially at a discounted price. For anyone seeking a more fully fleshed-out survival adventure, however, Andarilho remains an intriguing but underdeveloped curiosity. Rating: 6/10

It's a simple survival game, but there are a lot of missing features. For example, you can't change the controls, and in-game there's barely anything accessible. I searched the entire map but couldn’t find any clothes. In Creative Mode, you can craft items without needing resources, but there’s no flying or cheating mode at all. I was really hoping to discover things like chest blueprints or new items, but there’s nothing else for players to find. The game has a lot of potential it's actually pretty fun but it definitely needs more updates. If the developer, SC Jogos, updates and improves the game, it could turn into something great. I'd love to see more items added and especially a multiplayer option. I really hope the developer keeps working on it! Andarilho is a delightful gem! I never thought wandering around could be this entertaining. The quirky characters and their hilarious dialogues kept me laughing throughout the journey. The art style is charming, and the puzzles are just the right amount of tricky. It’s like a whimsical adventure that tickles your funny bone! Highly recommend for a fun escape!
