Did you ever play "President" or "Scum" growing up? Maybe you called it something else, but this is that game, not poker. Which I think is a great thing, it makes it very different than existing playing card roguelikes like Balatro. If you're not familiar I'll explain below. This is also an interesting mix of online multiplayer battles and a roguelike, as you will gain or buy new abilities between matches but each match is against another actual person or people (supposedly at least, they could be bots as this just released). Your ultimate goal each round to be the first to get rid of every card in your hand. But you can only play cards of the same hand type (e.g a pair) of a higher value (e.g a pair of 4s over a pair of 2s) on top of the existing hand on the table so it's all about making strategic decisions on what to play, save, or counter with. If your opponent passes then the table is cleared and you can start with any hand you want. You may want to get rid of a low single or pair but you then leave the table opened for your opponent to easily counter or you may want to start with your more complex and higher card hand but then you won't have it later to counter your opponent, I'm explaining this as the game (maybe due to some rough translations) doesn't do a great job explaining the core mechanics and rules. I only picked it up so quickly due to having played this as a kid. It's a lot of fun but it isn't poker at all. The roguelike elements are either passive or triggered abilities that either let you manipulate you or your opponent's hand or trigger your character skill (which are a set main skill for each deck you choose). This is also done well as you basically build out what bs strategy you want over your run as there are usually a lot of different abilities and passives to choose from between each round. For instance, a "bomb" is basically a hand of 4 cards that can go over any hand on the table regardless of what it is (except for a bomb of a higher card value if that's on the table). It is the highest hand you can play (even if it isn't the most cards you can play at once) and essentially for winning. So maybe you make a deck that has abilities to basically increase your bomb opportunities by essentially converting cards to wild cards to increase more opportunities to make bombs and other modifiers that allow you to make bombs with less (more opportunities) or more cards (higher amount of discards per play). Maybe you create a build around voiding your cards so they no longer need to be played or discarded to win. Maybe you make a freezing deck that is all about blocking your opponent from playing their cards (which also makes me think the majority of players right now are still bots as even in group matches they literally only targeted me with this and never another opponent). Overall I got sucked in almost immediately and played for 2-3 hours straight. I really only have a few nitpicks with it. 1) Weird performance issues, I don't know why I can't get above 100 fps in a relatively low poly game with a 5070ti. It's not an issue per se because this is a turn based game, but weird how poorly it runs and may struggle on lower end devices. 2) Translation issues. Like I mentioned in my review I don't know how another non chinese English speaker who didn't grow up with the game figures this out without just playing for awhile. It's not explained very well and it's hard to understand often regardless with all the broken english. 3) It suffers from what a lot of these kinds of roguelikes suffer from, that winning is kind of anticlimactic. Especially since there's no story, you just keep playing until the game decides you've finished a run. It's all extrinsic value. But still, I very much recommend this, it's really unique and fun!

a very fun card game with a variety of characters/playstyles to play as/with, the game is however missing a lot of translation in various places which can be rather annoying.
