First playthrough review time. Assassin's Creed Chronicles India is the second game in the trilogy and continues the 2.5D stealth action style from the first title. The levels are short and linear, but they require thinking about movement and timing to progress. Compared to the main Assassin's Creed games, the experience is more focused and structured. The game encourages different approaches to each level. Players earn points and upgrades as they play, and revisiting previous levels on harder settings lets them improve their score and abilities. This adds some replay value and incentive to explore levels again. The art is strong and matches the setting well. The environments are clear and easy to navigate, making the layout and objectives understandable. Overall, Assassin's Creed Chronicles India is a solid middle entry in the trilogy, offering a brief but engaging stealth experience.

In contrast to the franchise's customary open-world 3D gameplay, this game offers a 2.5D side-scroll stealth platformer genre. It is set in 1841 in Colonial India, during the battle between the East India Company and the Sikh Empire. It has evocative level designs and richly colored backgrounds. The game offers a gratifying mix of engagement and stealth by emphasizing parkour mechanics and exact timing. Chakrams and smoke bombs are examples of tools that improve gameplay, and the scoring system encourages players who want to master levels to replay. Despite its visual appeal, the game has structural and gameplay problems, especially with its constrictive stealth techniques and awkward controls that make movement and timing difficult. Pacing is hampered by the emphasis on timed segments and stealth, which makes missions feel tedious and trial-and-error rather than entertaining. Furthermore, the story is shallow and does not make the most of its historical context, making it a niche experience that appeals more to lovers of narrowly limited stealth platformers than to those looking for more expansive action-adventure gameplay.

If you’ve played the China installment, you know exactly what to expect here. In many ways, it is more of the same, but it arrives with a breathtaking new coat of paint. While the previous game used muted ink and brushstrokes, India explodes off the screen. The art style shifts to a bright, vibrant palette inspired by 19th-century lithographs and henna patterns. It stands out immediately. The saturated colors and intricate geometric patterns make it perhaps the most visually striking of the three Chronicles games. The biggest compliment I can pay this game is also its greatest tragedy. It makes me wish we had a full, AAA open-world game in this setting. 1841 Punjab, amidst the tension between the Sikh Empire and the East India Company is a phenomenal backdrop for an Assassin’s story. Experiencing such a rich culture and history through the lens of a 2.5D side-scroller feels like looking at a banquet through a keyhole. It’s beautiful, yes, but it leaves you hungry for a scale that this smaller format simply can't provide. If you enjoyed the mechanics of China, you’ll find a more challenging and colorful extension of that gameplay here. It’s a gorgeous diversion, but it serves primarily as a reminder of how much untapped potential the Assassin's Creed franchise still has. It’s worth a playthrough just to see the colors in motion, even if it leaves you wishing for a much bigger adventure in the streets of Amritsar.

Maybe it's my PC, IDK, but the gamepad controls seem so sluggish. Lots of deaths and retrys due to inaccurate context inputs, plus no options to adjust sensitivity. Still decent once you get use to it, and the art looks amazing, just wish it was a better PC port with more options. Grab it on sale. DEEP discount only.

I've played this before on the Xbox One and I like the 2.5D side scroller. Its a cool neat AC game. I like the colors and the art the best in this one compared to the other 2 of the 3 2.5D AC games.
