The most OG Assassin's Creed game there is. While I still think Assassin's Creed II is the better overall package thanks to its tighter structure and incredible coming of age story, Brotherhood feels like the perfect epilogue to Ezio's journey. It's like reading a brilliant novel after finishing a beloved series, giving even more depth to a character everyone already loves. And honestly, who has ever said, "Nah, I've had enough of Ezio"? Absolutely no one. Starting the game as a Master Assassin completely changes the tone. The exuberance of youth is gone, replaced by experience, loss, and the scars left behind by a lifetime of fighting. Ezio isn't chasing revenge anymore he's driven by justice, responsibility, and the burden of leading an entire Brotherhood. That evolution makes him one of the greatest protagonists in gaming. Rome is still one of my favourite settings in the franchise. Watching the city slowly return to its former glory as you dismantle Borgia control is incredibly satisfying, and exploring its ancient ruins, crumbling monuments, and darker corners gives the world so much atmosphere. The city itself feels like another character, and rebuilding shops, landmarks, and recruiting Assassins makes your actions feel meaningful. Speaking of the Brotherhood system... this is still one of the coolest mechanics Ubisoft has ever made. Recruiting Assassins, training them, and calling them into battle never gets old. It genuinely makes you feel like you're leading an organization instead of being just another lone assassin. Can we please go back to this style of Assassin's Creed? Sure, the combat isn't particularly difficult by today's standards, but it more than makes up for it with style. Every counterkill, chain execution, rooftop escape, and hidden blade assassination makes you feel like an absolute badass. It's cinematic, fluid, and endlessly satisfying. This was also the game that truly perfected the classic Assassin's Creed formula. Parkour was smooth, the missions were varied not on Unity's level but feels awesome altogether, the soundtrack was phenomenal, and the multiplayer something Ubisoft never should have abandoned was surprisingly addictive and unlike anything else at the time too bad we never got that on pc. Every gamer should experience this at least once. Yes, it's dated in places, but underneath that is one of the finest action adventure games ever made and a reminder of why so many of us fell in love with this series in the first place.
What have I just played?! What have I done all this time skipping AC games? Bought them decade+ ago and they were just rotting in my library. What a huge improvement over AC 1 and AC 2 and visually appealing game, unlike first that has this brownish, muddy colour palette. I adore games that continue story from where you left off in previous game, although "loosing" ability to jump climb was bit stupid. I like the story very much, and that you can become Mentore of Assassins yourself was like an accomplishment and can recruit new assassins to your guild. Looking forward to AC: Revelations! 👍
