Pandora is the reason to play this. The forest, the wildlife, the first time you fly an ikran. Not many games put that much work into a place. The bow and the melee feel good against the RDA. Being the heavy one in the fight makes a change. The rest is a Ubisoft open world. Outposts, the same job in a different clearing, and a list of things to pick up that will eat your evenings if you let it. Worth it for the world. Go in ready to ignore half the map.
So, I have 146 hours on this blue hell. 10/10 now as a baby i watched avatar 1, then grew up watching 2, and 3, its perfect to say this game is my embodiment, and the movies are top 1 for me to watch once a week on a friday night. listen. i didnt choose the na'vi life. the na'vi life chose me. and by "chose me", i mean i voluntarily spent 146 hours of my precious, finite human existence running through a bioluminescent jungle, screaming at floating rocks, and trying to pet things that absolutely wanted to eat my face for the past... i think two years since the game came out and i got it the day after i got my pay... anyway. So the good "I AM THE APEX PREDATOR" review: the climbing: if you dont feel like an absolute god when you parkour up a 300-foot floating mountain while your ikran screams in your ear, you are playing wrong. the bows: i have used guns. i have used shotguns. but nothing--and i mean NOTHING-- beats the dopamine hit of landing a weak-spot headshot from a mile away with a wooden ass bow. i am Legolas on steroids. i am a giant blue killing machine with a ponytail. the world: this is literally too pretty. i spent 40 of my 146 hours staring at grass and taking steam screenshots to post. i dont know how they did it, but they made glow-in-the-dark mushrooms look better than my future. The bad "THIS PLANT IS TRYING TO KILL ME" review: Nav mode: you know that special "na'vi senses" vision from eywa? i left that on for 80 hours, i forgot what real colors looked like. stealth: i am 12 feet tall. i am blue. i glow in the dark. and yet, i am supposed to be a "stealth assassin". the RDA soldiers are clearly blind because i literally jump on their metal roofs and they dont hear me. i love it, but it makes no sense. the final boss: it was... okay? i didnt spend 146 hours for a cutscene that lasts 3 minutes. i wanted to wrestle the bukowsky in the mud! i had health packs! PLEASE. the ugly (my soul): i completed the game. i found every single flora. i freed every single base. i completed the DLCs and stared into the abyss of the "map screen" until i saw 100% completion. now i have nothing left. no more RDA to shoot. no more fruit to pick. just... silence. verdict: if you want a game that makes you feel like an invincible, nature-loving, alien cat-person who can kill a helicopter with a stick, BUY IT. and try not to pollute earth too. 10/10 - would get blue again. <3
I played this game twice and all of the dlcs. One of my personal favorite games to come back to and have an interesting time with the wildlife. I love all the small details and side tasks you can do even if there aren't any rewards. The story is also interesting especially when you get to the Clouded Forest. Small bugs and glitches here and there but they're pretty funny sometimes, only when I'm not fighting a whole camp...

6.5 / 10 - Beautiful. Derivitive and Clearly Ubisoft Do you enjou Far Cry? Great, you'll probably enjoy this. The graphics are amazing, probably some of the best. Performance is ok, needed Frame Gen / DLSS to get above 60fps on max settings in 5Kx2K res with a 4090. I could def see it struggling on lower end PCs. The world is incredibly dense... But still feels empty? Everything looks amazing and it truly feels like a lush forrest, but there's not that many remarkable landmarks to make things stand out. You don't get that sense of just remembering where things are like you would in a Rockstar game. So ultimately you're spamming the waypoint button and checking your map. The gameplay is typical Ubisoft. Bunch of repetive activities spawned throughout the map. Only thing is I found a lot of the activities to be really tedious and just straight up not fun. The memory paintings in particular were just ridiculously overlong and boring. Taking down enemy outposts is fun though and the sense of movement with truly great. Climbing and running feels fluid and kudos to the devs for adding Third Person, both first and third view feel good. There's a lack of variety in enemies and weapons which is pretty dissapointing. Things get repetivie fast. The leveling up and gear systems are pretty basic but it kept me engaged to upgrade my character. The whole crafting system and hunting mechanic didn't click with me though, you can obtain gear by just clearing enemy outposts and by the end I was so OP that there really wasn't any reason to hunt down resources to craft legendary items. Overall, gameplay did keep me hooked and there were some truly standout moments in the campagain. The story is incredibly mid. I love the Avatar movies but I could barely muster a care for any characters in this game. The writing is quite bland and you can tell the actors are trying but in th end it's just a slog to get through. If the story was better this honestly could have been a solid 7.5 - 8, but in the end it's just a very cliched and uninspired story. Ultimately, I would recommend trying this game on deep discount (It's also gona be available on Gamepass this month). If you're wanting a checklist Ubisoft game with amazing graphics, you'll prob have a good time, but its absolutely not essential gaming.
