almost 200 hours, please support these devs. the art is only getting better, and even if its very basic and unpolished now, theyre working tireless and the entire rest of the game is where the polish shows. consistent balance and item updates, the game is almost TOO fresh every time I go to play it because new stuff gets added so fast. I've never had a single game-breaking bug and its put together well enough that the only issues I've ever had was "oh, an item thats supposed to have a .3 damage reduction actually does .2 but no one noticed until 5 months later". I have only ever lost because I got unlucky (an autobattler staple and theres ways to manipulate rng built in), or that I wasnt good enough. you can literally spend 20 minutes just optimizing a single round. I have legitimately never seen a game with this much skill expression built in, it feels like youre building a rube goldberg machine that makes you ascend to godhood half the time, or you can decide to be lazy and just chose the best items that do the most damage and hope to rush their ass. tldr: I have had to ban myself from playing this game because its so relaxing and one of the least frustrating games that it makes you want to play for 6 hours straight without getting up to pee while also giving you plenty of time to relax, get up and come back to the game to do better. please buy this game

Voting with my wallet as a Reynad suggested, purchased the game after playing too much of the demo and haven't regretted it. You get the full game for the price with only a slight price increase after launch. They don't nickle and dime you like their competitors while having more QoL than any other game in it's genre.

For anyone wanting to skip this game 'cause it's tagged "PvP": it's not that kind of PvP. It's asynchronous--there is no interaction and your opponent isn't really there --you play against a snapshot of a rando's build. It's more like playing against randomized NPCs. Heavily addictive

I found a bag battle freemium game on my phone. I decided that before I give them money to make the ads go away, I would check to see if there was something similar on Steam for comparable amount of money. It didn't take long for me to find Backpack Battles. I downloaded the demo, played through once, and came back to buy the game. It's so much fun! I've been playing a ton and feel like there's still a lot more ways to play the game and I have a lot more to unlock yet.

Fun game. It's asynchronous PvP, meaning you play against the saves of other players. It also means you can pause the game at any time, no issues.
