This would be the second time I've played since it's release back in 2013 but I treated this as a fresh first time since It's been so long, and all I can say is that this game was bloody brilliant to play through again. The portrayal of Batman voiced by Roger Craig Smith was astounding and being able to witness a younger, more aggressive and brutal fresh of the press Batman was phenomenal. It was great to see the origins 'pardon the pun' of both Batman and of course the Joker. Troy Baker did a spectacular job in voicing the Joker with having large shoes to fill to say the least with Mark Hamill's icon portrayal in the earlier Arkham games. The boss fights, the cinematics, all encompassing the Christmas aesthetic procured a marvellous experience especially the ending. Wow. A DAMN GOOD prequel. 4/5

Batman: Arkham Origins is the black sheep of the Arkham trilogy — but unfairly so. While it lacks the innovation of Arkham Asylum and the polish of Arkham City, it delivers a surprisingly rich, grounded, and emotionally compelling origin story for the Dark Knight. his game takes place on Christmas Eve, with a younger, angrier Bruce Wayne just two years into his crusade. Gotham is cold, quiet, and full of criminals — and eight deadly assassins have been sent to kill Batman for a $50 million bounty. The setup is simple, but it works. The writing has weight, and the performances — especially Troy Baker as a younger, more psychotic Joker — are top-tier. Combat remains tight and satisfying, following the tried-and-true freeflow system. While not as smooth as in City, it's still incredibly fun. Stealth (predator) sections are just as rewarding. The game also introduces a few new gadgets like the Shock Gloves — maybe a bit OP, but fun nonetheless. The open world is larger than in Arkham City, though sometimes it feels emptier. Still, snowy Gotham is atmospheric, with holiday lights and a heavy, noir vibe. The city feels alive with crime, and the soundtrack adds a haunting, lonely tone that matches Batman’s early struggles. Where Origins really shines is its story. It's not about saving the world — it's about Batman figuring out who he is. His dynamic with Alfred is powerful, and his first encounters with key villains like Joker, Bane, and Deathstroke add real depth. The boss fights are some of the best in the series, especially the one with Deathstroke — fast, intense, and cinematic. Side content is a bit of a mixed bag. There are some fun detective cases and Most Wanted missions, but collectibles (like Enigma datapacks) feel tedious after a while. There’s less polish and variety than in City, but still plenty to do. Arkham Origins is not just a “filler” game — it’s a worthy, character-driven Batman story with great gameplay and atmosphere.
