Editing my old review, because everything mentioned in it was fixed in a very short time (the game was too grindy, and repairing was a chore). Amazing job by one dev. So now, I can fully recommend the game without hesitation. He even added more difficulty options. For now the only thing that bothers me a bit in the game is that the AI seems to be far stronger than you when ramming and it drives erratically at times. But that's also part of the fun so make of it what you will. Other than that this game is great. As a fan of rally games, this is a blast and EXTREMLEY impressive. One dude made a game that has such a good feeling when driving these beaters across multiple surfaces. And unlike other indie racing games he has implemented a garage/repair system that actually makes a huge difference when driving. You feel your gearbox breaking, your tires not gripping or the engine failing. And once you return you have to choose what to fix and what parts to put in your trunk to have with you in case you need them between stages. You can even get out of your car and fix it in the middle of the race! The driving feels heavy and grounded. Every pothole can be your undoing, you need to drive with care since these aren't race cars, they're crappy rust buckets. But you can make them work wonders with enough skill. You also have a ton of options (more with mods), between FWD, AWD, RWD, that all feel VERY different. Even the tires, you can buy multiple types, of various sizes that affects your handling. There's also a ton of tracks with all kinds of mixed surfaces to enjoy. Pro tip: At the start of the game use the NPC sponsors, you make money way faster since you don't have to repair the car yourself. For this price, it's impossible not to recommend. Give it a shot.

Love at first sight. Essentially Wreckfest meets My Summer Car, with a Gran Turismo-style career mode. The driving physics are chunky and physics-y, and everything you do is literally done by hand: Replacing tyres and parts, shopping for items, and stacking your trophies after a win. It's peak, just get it.

The physics side of this game is pretty much perfect, really love the handling, I also played with the manual transmission turned on and that was a lot of fun. Things that I would love to see changed though - a) the scrap / used parts can start piling up in the garage quite a bit and it's a little tedious going back and forth to the dumpster, would love a "scrap" button... b) you burn through cash really quickly on the repairs, that are very often, the cash is really tight (maybe that was the point tho, idk...) I would love to see a rebalance in the wear of for example bearings, that you barely change in real life, in the game they were ready to be changed after 2 events, which didn't help with the cash side of things... Maybe make the parts cheaper? Or make parts that last longer that cost a bit more... But I'm not a developer and don't want to change your game... Just wanted to write here some points, that I thought could be useful as feedback. Played for 2 hours on the Steam Deck and it was perfect, will continue playing...

This is, simply put, the best Group B(eater) Sim out there. I've been waiting a LONG time for a game like this. I highly recommend muting the music and blasting eurobeat at a similar level to the engine noise. If you aren't already a grassroots rally fan, it will awaken something in you. Driving feels tactile unlike any other semi casual racer, you will need to anticipate and work with either forcing traction or loss of traction to make the tightest lines on the tracks. The maintenance and upkeep is a great way to add overarching pressure and challenge without just flat out crippling you after a mistake (Tree + Dirt Rally 2.0 = bye bye credits) The world has a great sense of atmosphere to it, I'm keen to see how much further it gets fleshed out. My only suggestion would be if the game can lean more into risk v reward with expanded modifications. Nothing outlandish like Forza, but to be able to make alterations to the car like forced induction or drivetrain mods introduce aggressive wear, leading to burning through cash (but the performane gain may be enough to edge you into the higher rankings). Not a dealbreaker though, there is definetely a basic modification system in this (e.g. Suspension, Flywheel, Engine and Tires) This won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I often complained that My Summer Car would be a great game if it focused more on the racing and car building and not wasting time in the open world. I know I will lose many many hours to this game, especially if the online community takes off.

Very solid game. The driving is awesome, and there are A LOT of tracks, so many I can't even wrap my head around it. The maps have different surfaces that act differently, there are holes and so on, you need different tires for different environments. Damaging car system is also a novelty, something can break mid race.
