A fun point & click murder mystery that I overall do recommend. I really enjoyed the dialogue with the different characters and I liked that there were romanceable characters not just for the player, but people that the player could set up with one another. It was fun and kept me playing each case past the day I'd solved it just to get each person's meter as full as I could. That said, there were two things that I feel held me back in this game and that I hope the devs will improve for their next one. 1. Making the drinks - while the minigame was fun at first, it became boring and grating as time went on. I think for what is basically a visual novel, I would have preferred to do a harder mini-game one time to "learn" the drink and then I could serve it bypassing that mini-game for the rest of the game (or chapter, at least). 2. The romance options didn't change the ending of the game. I liked the little dialogue flairs that would come about but I think that if your character romances one (or more) characters, there should be a scene with them at the end of the game. 2.5. (Kinda part of 2.) Not enough Peter! I wanted to see an ending where he gets his life together. I CAN FIX HIM I SWEAR Those gripes aside, I'm very much looking forward to Rogueside's next project!

what a fantastically crafted narrative. i enjoy the writing, characters and plot pacing. i, to be honest, do not really like Sandra, but that's all. a bit bland, that one. to be honest, it could have been better if we spent more time playing as her in the beginning. and also, if the romance was deeper, having that tie between peter and her and the current bartender would have been beautiful i think every case is interesting, and the character development feels organic, which I always appreciate. they are all well designed, and the lgbt+ representation is really well done. i do think the drink mixing is repetitive, as well as too easy. the endings were kind of short. i expected a little more given the variation. i think the romance was sweet (peter, my beloved), but it would have been better if it started a bit sooner and if it tied into an ending scene. i think the game would have also benefited if the characters had their own themes -- the sound track got kind of boring after awhile.

Best Served Cold is half-bartender visual novel, half-detective game. Basically Coffee Talk with much more agency, except set in a prohibition era speakeasy. It's very well written and the cases are put together intelligently and weave in the community of characters seamlessly. Strongly recommended for anyone interested in these genres. Can't wait for the sequel!

I loved this game, it became addicting and now I'm not sure what to do with myself. I wish there was a sequel so I could keep interacting with the characters. I'm gonna miss Peter Wagner and Detective Hugo Mertens :')

I'd like to start my review by thanking Peter Wagner for existing. Now that's out of the way; what you basically have here is a visual novel with simple gameplay mechanics. All you got to do is mix drinks by following the lines with your mouse before the evil pointer catches you, learn your customers favorite & liked drinks so you can change their mood and make them spill the tea. I've quite liked the setting - the alternative Europe - and the characters. Not all of them has a deep and fully flesched out story, and you don't see all in every episode (There are 5 episodes in total) Overall story was good enough to keep me playing, but you can see where the case is going pretty early on if you are used to consume these type of media. One thing I'll complain about is the supposed "romance" aspect of the game. I don't know if they've advertised the game having good romance or not, but from the trailer you kind of expect to have...more than what you actually have. If you are expecting romance, let me warn you beforehand; there is nearly none. Romance talk is only possible during the last episode of the game, where you have the option to talk about it with EVERY character; but it basically goes like "+Hey do you like me? -Yes/No. -K, let's hang out./Cool./Me neither." except for 2 characters - those two have more lines, but again, it's the same. (Hence me being thankful for Peter because those two lines about jumping over the bar and having a taste and knowing what he's missing would make him miserable if you choose the romance option during a pivotal moment during the last episode was just WOW.) All I want to say is, clearly there was potential; but they didn't know how to use it. All in all; I've spent a nice 15-20 hours, enjoyed the story. Would recommend on a sale.
