To shoot for the moon
This was an excellent murder mystery VN. It doesn't have the budget of the genre's heavy hitters, but it has a very solid story and it tells it with aplomb. You've got a strong, memorable cast, a complex mystery that tripped me up a few times, solid music and some well thought out material. Taking the time to give the story's VTuber an actual stream archive to look over was a particularly impressive touch! The pace of the courtroom scenes was thrilling, the banter fun, the puzzles engaging. This was just a good game on every front. Currently, with the increasing use of shoddy AI translation services, the quality of an English translation is a bit of a hot topic. I feel this English script is ultimately pretty solid. It's a little stilted in a few points, but it managed to hit a conversational accuracy far better than bigger games from bigger companies. This little indie has a better script than work I've seen coming out of Shueisha Games, Spike Chunsoft and even a particular Bandai Namco AAA release. ^^ Nice job! I have slightly mixed thoughts on the presentation of the killer, and the way information about them is presented. I would like to refrain from giving spoilers, even tagged, in this review so I will frame it around a reference. While I must discuss spoilers to answer this question, I will both tag them and frame them in vague terms. You will not be told the true killer. (though I must note one character who is *not* the killer for purposes of this explanation) So, my question. Does this mystery 'ignore the heart'? Is it of the school of Furude, a pure intellectual exercise, or is of the more character and social driven school of Beatrice? If I were to criticise this game, that is the angle I would take. How the motives and psychology of the characters are handled is an interesting discussion point. Ultimately, I think this went well but I'd like to unpack it some. The game sees Kuripa's heart clearly, and the hearts of those around her. That aspect of the story is well handled. But the heart of the killer is a factor ignored within the mystery itself. The mystery is solved by deductive reasoning and deductive reasoning alone. Who our killer is as a person and why they committed the crime is not important for the purposes of the mystery. I feel this diminishes the trial somewhat while you're playing it? You're not facing a character, you're facing a deranged killer. There's less of a sense of catharsis for this takedown than I feel like there could've been. It's not bad, the emotive hooks around Kuripa help carry the scene to a solid, good point. But what we got was a decent final solo, when I saw the makings of an amazing duet here. This is the one point where I feel the game didn't live up to its full potential. And yet, the killer gets a substory which examines their perspective somewhat. It doesn't directly address the reason for the crime (beyond a single line from someone else about it) but the story does attempt to consider her perspective, and show her as a person, rather than simply a monster. I appreciate that deeply. It's a common flaw in these stories to reduce the murderer to little more than a violent monster, greedy, corrupt, uninteresting. Trying to extend them this sort of empathy is a very good decision, and I congratulate the team for their effort. They did not redeem the murderer, did not forgive them, but kept them human. Ultimately, to my mind this is a negative outweighed by a stronger positive. So... yeah! Damn fine game! Nice job team! I'd love more from this studio - and this comes from someone who plays every AA like obsessively! As indie takes on the genre go, this is one of the very best - up there with Shinrai and Aviary Attorney!

Cute girls doing cute things... except one of them. Well presented with a little bit of lawyer mechanics that I haven't seen in other games, and thought it was done pretty well too! Temper your expectations a bit if your main experience with detective games are like Ace Attorney or some other well produced one, but overall, I enjoyed the mystery, the characters, and the story.

While getting off to a bit of a bumpy start during Chapter One, The Real Face of a VTuber becomes a very enjoyable murder mystery experience in the latter chapters! Games like this are pretty much defined by their cast of characters (or suspects), and this one manages to deliver an extremely well likable and interesting cast to throw suspicion onto (even if someone of them are noticeably less developed than others)... Except maybe Faye Wards. In the first half she was one of my favourites, but her role in the second half of the game soured her character a bit too much... Too many unanswered questions to really get what her deal was. As explained in another review, there were some off parts with the localisation and formatting, but none of which actively managed to hinder the experience for me. It's a nice experience for the price that I'd recommend to anyone at all interested in this sort of premise. 8/10 if you want a numeric score. It's worth its price even if you don't wait for a sale. Also Misty wins the company's "Most Likely to be a Homicidal Maniac Award", pulling just ahead of the actual murderer.

I don't do reviews, but this seems to be a very small studio so I imagine any review helps Overall the game's story and mechanics are great! Only real negative I found was the text formatting (which sometimes didn't fit the textbox or the backlog) The "true" ending is kinda hard to stumble on your own, so you'll probably have to do the other 2 endings first to connect all the dots. The game does a good job of guiding you without holding your hand (though there are hints if you need, even though I never used them). Be prepared to critically think and analyze all of your evidence The fact that they have real games and real vtubers in it is also really cool imo
