Fun game. It is bit more challenging from the other two. They dropped the annoying pre-req of finding everything to get the true ending. You do have to have 2 rings and hit L/R button when the screen "cracks" to do actually finish the entire game.

Everything you could want from a Blaster Master game, really. Jammed with cute call backs and clever design tweaks, along with a new combat system that's quite fun to mess around with. Top down dungeons are repetitive but fairly easy to breeze through so it's not a big deal. And the true ending! The aggressive anime-isms (and difficulty shit man I suck at this game) from the second game's finale are cranked all the way up, extremely cool. Leibnez <3

Definitely weakest of the trilogy, but good game. Feels maybe too rushed by design, everything out from story-related feels copy-paste unlike in second game, that felt very creative.

The inevitable 3rd game of the Blaster Master Zero series. I absolutely love Zero and Zero 2 however, I found the difficulty spike in this entry to be a bit much. Zero 3 is no joke and hard to the point of it being annoying. I also have a laundry list of other nit picks about the game which overall make for a lopsided feeling game. I enjoyed being done with it.

Master Blaster Zero 3 is the ultimate evolution of the 2D Blaster Master gameplay style. Both side-scrolling and top-down sections are so well refined from Zero 1&2. The game follows up directly from Zero 2, seeing Jason, Eve and Fred all separated and trapped on planet Sophia, but after a mutant attack, finds Jason freed and on the run from the planet's military. This game bridges the gap between the Japanese and western stories of the original game, with Metafight and Blaster Master having full relevance to the narrative. You have names from the original Japanese NES game, the PS1 3D entry and more, feeling like the end of a decades long narrative. Everyone is here, creating a thrilling final to the Zero trilogy. This also feels the most like a Metroidvania. Zero 1 had many elements and Zero 2 lacked said elements, however Zero 3 fully focuses on backtracking and exploration, leading to less areas but bigger maps that go up, down and all around. The gameplay, like I said, is very refined, creating one of the best 2D Shooters created. The music is awesome and the narrative is well paced and engaging. I don't know if we'll ever get a Zero 4 or a brand new Blaster Master title, but the entire trilogy deserves to be experienced. If you want to have a taste of metroidvania gameplay, I'd really recommend this series, but don't jump right into Zero 3. These games are tightly connected and it's worth playing the games in order. Especially with how cheap these games get through sales, it's a must have for your game collection, and yes, it works wonderfully on Steam Deck.
