Bugsnax. A game that many reviews say looks like it's made for children, but has a deep story, and I agree. Please keep the following in mind while reading this review; I have done 100% of this game. I do not mean I got all achievements, though I did, I have done all letter quests, all sidequests, all bugsnax, every line of dialogue, EVERYTHING, so I know my stuff. This is a game with a story that perfectly spoon-feeds you what's going on, where the soundtrack perfectly under-lines the game, the areas, and the characters. How bugsnax makes you care; by providing not just single characters with highly fleshed out stories and personalities, but by making them interact with each other, and explaining that opposites do not always attract, but that doesn't mean that they can't still be friends, eventually. By having voice acting for each of the lines in the game (By the way, these VAs need some sort of award, stellar job) they are able to display the humanity of each character. Most stories force conflicts by having something small end up blowing up. As you will learn in the first 20 minutes of the game, this story causes random and different kinds of people to be forced together, with conflict simmering, but not happening just yet, until it all crumbles down. That's all I'll spoil about the story. Soundtrack; by having generally slow, lo-fi type music, bugsnax makes you feel the emotions it wants you to, not by cheesy dialogue lines or information overload, but by having this kind of music and letting your own imagination come to the conclusion that you should feel bad for one character, and mad at another. Story (not a summary, no spoilers); PAY ATTENTION TO IT! The gameplay, while entertaining, is not even nearly the focus of this game. The story is heavy, though still very approachable. it has the perfect balance between something like dark souls where you have to read a lot of things and you're basically left on your own, and being straight up told what's happening with text popping up on the screen. Most of my reviews are some sort of joke or gimmick, but not this time. Bugsnax has truly moved me, and it might move you too, since it is genuinely a work of art. Also, the price might seem steep, but it's worth it, and it sometimes goes on sale for like $5. BUNGER FOREVER!

This has easily become an all time favorite game of mine. You can tell so much care has gone into this game and i love it so much awesome voice acting, so much to do, cute creatures. I don't leave a lot of reviews but i definitely had to for this one. This game is so creative and keeps me coming back and wanting to complete all the different tasks and mail requests because it's actually fun to do so (and you get cute house cosmetics for each one). I found catching the snacks and solving the little puzzles not overly frustrating so that added to the chill coziness. I've been putting off the final party because i don't want it to end.. :( Thanks for a great game!

Been thinking a lot about the preying picantis. I don’t get why the fact that it’s spicy should mean that I will literally catch on fire if I touch it. I get why the scoopy banoopy will freeze me - it’s because it’s actually very cold. However spicy food only tastes hot, it isn’t actually hot - and even if it was, it wouldn’t make me catch on fire.

This game has a sickeningly tight grip on my soul. I cannot begin to explain how deep the rabbit hole goes regarding this game, on one hand it's a fun exploration and collection game where you traverse the Isle of Bugsnax to find the missing leader of an expedition lead by Elizabert Megafig and help the Grumps of Snaxburg with their personal weaknesses and fears. And on the other hand, you have a conspiracy, cover ups, a secret society that plans to control the Bugsnax and will kill or at the very least silence anyone who threatens leaking knowledge about the Bugsnax to the public or knows too much about the secret society, the Snax themselves are parasites that possibly grew to larger sizes due to Grumpus sacrifice, Grumpus Sacrifice (the burger is a war criminal) and possible undercover agents (looking at you Beffica.) Overall, a fun experience for the whole family, would recommend.

Kinda bug. Kinda snack. Kinda body horror. Kinda suprisingly good voice cast. Kinda fun mechanics of hunting and catching pokemon-like food-like creatures. Kinda unironically engaging and well-written story and characters. Kinda fantastic soundtrack and sound design. Kinda can't wait for more.
