A classic that I spent too many hours in as a kid. So much fun! I always enjoyed the look of the first game a bit more, this one was fully 3D but its ugly as sin. But overall both games are quite similar. This version is very basic, you wont have the original Iron Maiden soundtrack. But, well... it works, I remember setting up the original Carma on Steam was a pain in the ass.

Carmageddon 2 and TDR 2000 (I'll review this one later when I get the game on Steam) are literally identical to the first Carmageddon, only adding new graphics technology to the gameplay. The first change was to focus solely on Max. DieAnna was removed because the actress at the time was a child and couldn't involve a child in a project like that, blah blah blah. That live-action camera in the corner was abandoned. The entire on-screen interface has been greatly improved, with tons of information. We now have a minimap, data on the nearest opponent, clear indication of points, vehicle damage, speedometer... everything is much more beautiful! The graphics have improved considerably. Pedestrians and animals gained 3D models. Arms and legs were mutilated, and a much larger bloodbath occurred. The vehicle damage was impressive; cars were now losing larger chunks and even getting completely crumpled and cut in half. As the car deformed, it impacted gameplay more than before, which was once again an innovation the game brought to racing games. Very few people recognize this because the game was so marginalized. Now there are over 40 characters, many of them from the first game, each with their own car and much more detailed inside and out. Carmageddon 2, like its predecessor, has no story whatsoever for Max or the other characters... Multiplayer isn't IP-only; online mode has been implemented, again for two to six players... Of the available modes, they left almost all of them, just removing tag and replacing it with the Vampire's Curse. And seriously... I admit... 2 is pretty awesome... ALTHOUGH I still fondly consider 1 my favorite, lol! So 2 is perfect for many fans of the saga!

Lovely game, still just as fun as when I first played it way back in the early 2000s. Mindless carnage accompanied by impressive damage model and plenty of wacky cars, tracks and power-ups. What's exciting about playing Carma II is that it can be quite challenging - after 3 "races" you have to complete a special mission, usually quite tough, to advance to the next stage. And the races themselves can get interesting too, if you're wrecked it's over and you have to restart plus some opponents can be a real pain to destroy and they pack a lot of punch (that red truck still scares me every time I have to face it).

My favorite game in series. Very good damage model for its time. By today's standards it's not, but it's still funny to see how these cartoony cars deform and split in two halves. And car selection is very broad. It even includes a plane, a crop harvester and a freaking mining dump truck... https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2445014731 The only buzzkill is the missions. This nonsense you have to do to continue to the next set of matches.
