The game worked pretty well on my Steam Deck, though there are a few things to be aware of. 1. The controls can be confusing to configure, I had to toggle the options in-game. The pitstop minigame is kind of hard to play because the button prompts show numbers instead of buttons on any actual controller. (Thankfully it's pretty easy to cheese.) 2. I couldn't access the map? I know this game had one from back when I played it years ago, but I couldn't for the life of me find out how to access it. I was able to deal with it because I was able to get all the trophies in each mission on my first try, but I can only imagine how annoying it would be if I didn't bother and tried to go for 100% later. (Seriously, let me know if I'm somehow missing something there.) 3. The movies in the extras menu wouldn't play. Now the cutscenes in the story mode worked fine, (maybe there were some technical glitches in them but I'm not really the kind to notice that kind of stuff) I'm talking about the optional ones that honestly you can just look up online instead. Now despite these issues, I'm still going to leave a positive review because overall, none of these issues were game-breaking, at least not for me for reasons I listed in each point. Just kind of an FYI if you want to get this version or find an alternative if you know what I mean. As for the game itself... man, I won't say I don't have nostalgia for this game. It might just have been the first video game I ever played (I honestly can't remember, I was so young). But even despite that, I think this is still a pretty solid tie-in game to the movie. I won't say it's perfect, the game is really easy. Really, really easy. But even if the racing isn't all that in depth in comparison to other kart racers, driving in general is still really enjoyable. It's fun seeing how each of the tracks are set upon the open world, and it really does feel like you're playing an extension of the movie. If you played this game back then, I do think this is overall a serviceable way to play it. For anyone else, I'd say if you really liked the first movie it's a decent game to check out. Just don't expect to be challenged in any way. The novelty of driving around in Radiator Springs and interacting with the characters in it is the true draw of the game more than the racing I would say.

Everytime I pick up the lightning tokens it plays the same sound effect "Kachow" which I find funny, therefor I believe GOTY even though it's 20 years too late.

This was one of my favorite videogames when I was little. My dad once downloaded it for me when I came home from preschool and since I loved the Cars movie, I was absolutely excited. It's one of the core memories that will probably stay with me for the rest of my life. :D This game holds so many memories, that even tho I don't enjoy it that much now, I have to 10/10 recommend it.
