Cat Museum is a surreal horror puzzle adventure that transforms a simple exploration game into a deeply unsettling and emotionally charged experience. From the moment the player enters its strange world, the game creates an atmosphere that feels both dreamlike and disturbing, blending psychological horror with artistic symbolism in a way that constantly keeps players curious about what they will encounter next. Rather than relying on traditional horror mechanics or action-focused gameplay, Cat Museum builds its identity around atmosphere, visual storytelling, and emotional mystery. The result is a haunting adventure that feels unique from beginning to end. The story follows a young boy who arrives at a bizarre museum overseen by a mysterious cat. As he explores the building and restores its strange exhibits, fragments of forgotten memories and hidden emotional trauma begin to emerge. The narrative is intentionally abstract, revealing its themes through disturbing imagery, environmental details, and symbolic encounters instead of direct exposition. This fragmented storytelling style gives the game a dreamlike quality where reality constantly shifts and nothing feels entirely trustworthy. The further players progress into the museum, the more unsettling the world becomes, gradually revealing a darker emotional core beneath the surreal presentation. One of the game’s most impressive qualities is its extraordinary visual design. Every environment feels handcrafted with strange imagination, combining grotesque horror imagery with surprisingly beautiful artistic compositions. The museum is filled with twisted paintings, malformed creatures, moving walls, and disturbing exhibits that appear to exist somewhere between nightmares and surreal art installations. The hand-drawn style gives the entire experience a unique personality that immediately separates it from more conventional indie horror games. Each room introduces new visual ideas, ensuring that exploration remains consistently engaging even when players are simply wandering through the environment. The horror in Cat Museum is psychological rather than action-oriented. Instead of overwhelming players with constant threats or jump scares, the game focuses on creating tension through atmosphere and unpredictability. Strange sounds echo through empty halls, paintings seem alive, and bizarre creatures appear without warning, creating a constant feeling of unease. The game understands how to make players uncomfortable without relying on excessive violence or cheap horror tricks. This slower, more atmospheric approach allows the emotional themes and surreal imagery to leave a stronger impact. Puzzle-solving plays a central role throughout the experience. Most puzzles revolve around interacting with strange objects, observing environmental clues, and understanding the bizarre logic of the museum itself. The game rarely provides direct instructions, encouraging players to experiment and pay attention to subtle visual details. While the puzzles are generally manageable, some of them can feel intentionally cryptic, especially because the world operates according to surreal dream logic rather than conventional realism. This design choice may frustrate players who prefer more straightforward puzzle mechanics, but it also reinforces the mysterious tone that defines the game. The cat companion becomes an important emotional anchor throughout the story. Despite the unsettling world surrounding the protagonist, the cat introduces moments of warmth and comfort that help balance the darker elements of the narrative. Its playful behavior and mysterious presence create a strange bond between player and companion, making certain story developments far more emotionally effective later in the experience. This contrast between innocence and horror gives the game much of its emotional power. Sound design is another major strength. The soundtrack constantly shifts between soft melancholic melodies and eerie ambient noise, helping maintain the game’s surreal atmosphere. Environmental sounds, distorted whispers, and unsettling audio cues create tension even during moments when nothing dangerous is happening. The game’s use of sound feels carefully designed to support its psychological storytelling, turning even simple exploration into something emotionally uncomfortable and immersive. Beneath the surreal visuals and strange puzzles lies a surprisingly emotional story centered around loneliness, trauma, grief, and childhood fear. The museum gradually reveals itself as more than just a strange setting filled with bizarre exhibits. Many of the creatures, paintings, and horrifying sequences appear tied to emotional memories and psychological suffering. The game trusts players to interpret these themes on their own rather than explaining everything directly, which gives the narrative a lingering emotional impact that stays with players long after the game ends. Despite its strengths, Cat Museum is not a game that will appeal to everyone. Its intentionally vague storytelling and symbolic presentation can occasionally make the experience confusing. Players expecting traditional horror gameplay or a clearly explained narrative may struggle with its abstract approach. Some puzzles also become frustrating due to unclear solutions, especially when the game leans heavily into surreal visual logic instead of intuitive design. Additionally, the relatively short runtime may leave some players wishing for a deeper exploration of the world and its characters. Even with these issues, Cat Museum succeeds because of how fully committed it is to its artistic vision. It creates an experience that feels genuinely different from most indie horror adventures by blending unsettling imagery, emotional storytelling, and surreal symbolism into something deeply memorable. The game is not interested in delivering conventional entertainment or predictable scares. Instead, it focuses on creating an emotional and psychological journey that feels strange, melancholic, and oddly beautiful at the same time. For players who appreciate atmospheric storytelling, surreal horror, and emotionally driven puzzle adventures, Cat Museum delivers a fascinating experience filled with unforgettable imagery and haunting themes. Its disturbing world, creative visual design, and symbolic storytelling combine to create an adventure that remains impactful long after the final moments. Rating: 8/10

A very simple and sometimes a bit boring game with easy puzzles. The main highlight is its colorful visuals and unique, slightly psychedelic atmosphere. Nothing special, but worth it for the price.

I would definitely recommend Cat Museum. At first, it looks like a simple puzzle game set inside a strange, surreal art museum, but it quickly turns into something much deeper and more emotional than I expected. I really enjoyed how each room feels like stepping into a painting that is slightly unsettling but also beautiful at the same time, and every exhibit slowly reveals another piece of the story. What I liked most is how the puzzles are not just there for challenge but actually connect to the boy’s memories and emotions.

The game pretends to be a casual point-n-click puzzle adventure. Technically, that's what it is, but the atmosphere, and the narrative...it's something special. It's hard to tell more without any spoilers, but I can tell you that it's the first point-n-clicker that made me cry. Literally.
