"There was once a powerful weapon known as the "Kingsblade"! For many years, the kingdoms of cats and dogs warred over it. But suddenly, the blade shattered, and the world was never the same again..." Cat Quest II is an action role-playing game developed by The Gentlebros and published by Kepler Interactive. Story In Cat Quest II you play as two heroes who are awaken from a slumber by a spirit named Kirry. Their kingdoms have been taken over by evil usurpers, forcing a cooperation between kings in order to reclaim Felingrad and Lupus Empire before war starts once again. Gameplay Cat Quest II follows the golden rule "If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it". It's pretty much what you found in first title with few additions. Core gameplay is still focused on usual RPG shenanigans- complete quests, slay enemies, gather gear and levels to improve- but with cat and newly added dog puns! Your goal is to simply beat main quests to further push the storyline, enjoying the smaller side tasks with various unique characters in between. If these bore you out, you can dive into exploration of two kingdoms! Game has a lot of simple dungeons and caves you can clear out from enemies to obtain loot, magic towers to improve your spells or monuments with lore. Seek towns and safe places to take a quick nap and save your game, restoring health and magic! On your cat (and dog) quest, you will encounter plenty of foes who need smacking. Pick up a variety of melee weapons and attack, or use new category- magic staves! To turn your warrior into proper mage. Additionally game has expanded amount of spell to choose from. As previously, to avoid attacks you can perform dodge rolls, or attempt to run away. Completing quests, slaying enemies and overall just collecting experience points grants you a level up, increasing your health points, damage, and amount of magic. On your heroic journey you also collect coins used to upgrade spells, weapons and gear at blacksmiths or mage towers. Now, items. Chests and occasional quest rewards contain gear you can equip to improve your statistics (and look!). Grab a weapon, armor, and head gear with most of them coming as sets focused around certain playstyle. Here you can also notice final stat- armor! More of it the better as it means you won't lose your health. Biggest change in Cat Quest II lies within number "II". Game comes with local cooperation mode, but solo players will get to enjoy the existence of invulnerable side kick too, so don't worry! Plus, single players get to choose items equipped by other character, pretty much allowing you to create two distinctive loadouts you can utilize based on your mood. With that, a big change also comes to dying. If your health goes to 0, you can be revived by your buddy! For a solo player, game automatically changes to second character if first goes down, allowing you to revive yourself. Pretty neat. Though if both characters go out, coop or not, you go back to last save point. Playtime, replayability, other modes It took me 10 hours to clean out entire map, all treasures and side tasks included. Main story can be done, to put it simply, in just a few hours. Like in previous game after beating the story for the first time you unlock two additional modes: Mew Game, where you can activate certain modifiers to change how game plays out and New Game+, where you keep everything from previous playthrough but get to up the level of everything further by collecting it all once again! Plus on top of it all you have cooperation, if you and your buddy seek to bathe in glory of puns. Those modes provide good replayability for those who seek it, letting you squeeze out extra from a fairly simple game. Impressions Cat Quest II doesn't ruin what made first game fun, and it adds few little bits that improve it! To already meow-y, purr-y puns we add dog-related ones, which as a certified pun enjoyer I can say, were pawsome! Gameplay wise addition of ranged staves with expanded amount of spells provide an option to fully lean towards magic build that does ease the pain of repetitive melee combat, which does start to wear off at the final hours of the game. New empire with fresh dungeons is fun to explore, while story itself is simple yet enjoyable. Game is quite colorful visually and with solid humour just like predecessor, adding extra charm to it. Lastly, additional gamemodes and new coop bring extra replayability aspect some might be searching for! As for a mixed bag, progression system is still fairly grindy, game politely trying to push you onto the path of exploration and side tasks completion with story quests being few levels higher everytime. Not an issue for me personally but I know some like to steamroll through main course before biting into side bits. Plus entire design of quests is same as previously so you should not expect anything fresh if you played first title. Nonetheless, my opinion of Cat Quest I is pretty much fitting to II too. It's a simple, short title worth playing for already mentioned word plays and if you need a break from massive "dozens of hours to waste" titles, best absored in short sessions so the gameplay won't wear out on you too much. In case of II, it's above first entry thanks to expanded magic and coop addition, allowing your buddy to bathe in glory of the puns! Final words and conclusion You meowght wanna check out the demo available on the Steam page to see if Cat Quest II is up your alley! Cat Quest II to simple formula from first game adds slight improvements and dog puns to bring another fun, short experience worth checking out! A sequel to the first game of fantastical battle cats, only this time with a larger map, more puns and added dogs... Well, the cats out of the bag with this one. The first game was a quirky small scale adventure with a feline spellblade bashing lowly woodland critters in a colourful world filled to the brim with quests, loot and puns. The sequel is more of the same, albeit with added dogs, an even more convoluted plot as well as couch-coop with a dog that reignites that ancient debate surrounding who is the superior pet. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3720003687 For those of you familiar with the first Cat Quest this game is pretty much a carbon copy of the first game. At its core it is a lighthearted action-RPG with a soothing difficulty, a cartoony aesthetic and hours of family friendly fun. The game revolves around you (and maybe a partner) running around on a large open map littered with dungeons, points of interests and quests, trying to root out the corrupting influence on the cat and dog kingdom. With you, as tradition demands, is a spiritual narrator of sorts that helps you tie the story together and acts as a focal point for the progression. If you lack a human companion, one of the characters will be controlled by a fairly competent AI. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3720004013 The mighty quest has quite an abundance of loot distributed across the map with each dungeon containing a certain amount of armour and weapons that affect your playstyle to a degree. The loot is random however and always taunts you with what's yet to come. The ranged weapons feel kind of gimmicky, but they are functional, albeit some of the ranged staffs are a bit cryptic as to their function. A good selection of spells rounds out your arsenal with fire, ice, healing and other conjurations to rain destruction on your foes. In the end, Cat Quest 2 is more Cat Quest, and if you liked the first game this is a competent successor that fills its shoes admirably. The best part of the sequel is by far the added coop! And should you beat the game readily there is a Mew Game+ to tackle as well as challenge modes to consider. Conclusion: A great and super-chill couch coop. Cat Quest 2 is excellent for those days when you feel like kicking back and donning your cat-costume for a while!

A continuation of the first game, but this time you have a dog as you companion helping in your new journey. New quests, new enemies, new challenges, new items, bigger map with new areas, with an unique way to fight the enemies. In this game the evil is not alone, and is much greater than the previous one, being an enemy we would never expect to be. Before playing this I highly recommend playing the first game [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/593280/Cat_Quest/] Cat Quest , which the story of both games are directly connected.

Cat quest 2 has made alot of improvements in the game. It still feels repetative but in a different way unlike cat quest 1 this game shows plenty of effort that the developer has made. Story wise is childish but fun. It shows alot of potential. Game grinding wise is easier and better than the first game. After all my rating for this game is: 7/10

Cute little RPG about a cat and a dog taking back their kingdom. Combat is simple but fun with a bunch of different gear to upgrade. Plenty of dungeons to explore, and adorable kitty meows & puppies in need of an adventurer to complete their quests. The art style is also simple but well done. It's short but fun!
