This game gets hate because there's no pew pew's and other stuff. But if you're looking for a mellow experience where you can just vibe out, fly around in an ambient heavy world, and enjoy a good story... This is it. I love this game.

If you are a fan of Blade Runner and that atmosphere, This is the game for you. The game itself is about getting around in your HOVA(Spinners) and deliver packages and gathering some collectables. Don't expect any action. But the city and the vibe is what I really like about the game. The story is good though. Not fantastic but good. Still haven't finished the DLC. So if you are a nerd about cyberpunk and that kind of atmosphere you will find the joy in this game.

Go buy the game, it's good, of you're into indie games, or want to get into indie games, you won't regret it. It's short, it's gorgeous, it's well written, and it's moody as hell. I'm gonna spend the rest of this review complaining about stupid criticisms people have made of the game, specifically its writing, but here's a disclaimer that may be important for you before buying this game: Cloudpunk takes the "punk" side very seriously, if you're a) political and b) on the conservative side, maybe skip this one if you don't want to be upset by a ser of voxels. Anyways, two points I'm angry at other reviews for: 1) "choices don't matter" - that depends on what you mean by "matter". The game has two endings, affected mostly only by what you do at the very very end of it. The rest of your choices are not seen, that much is true. However, that doesn't mean the choices you make don't matter; this is a story based game, it's not just a choose your own adventure story with graphics slapped on, it's a story that is in conversation with the player. All your choices in the story revolve around what you believe, what you think is important, what would you do in this situation, etc. You are not important (although this is somewhat undercut by the ending) your choices are not meant to be earth shattering, you will not be more important later, you're an uber driver in a city full of broken people. The game asks you to care about these characters you will only meet once, and then make choices about their lives, knowing you will never see the consequences of those actions. The consequences live in your head and thus are far more effective than anything that could happen in game. What happened after they left your HOVA? what do you think would happen? 2) "Game is poorly written" - I have to touch on this one because of a very stupid negative review left here. There are ABSOLUTELY valid criticisms to be made against the writing. It's stiff in some areas, it's very much in your face with it's themes (although not only and most of the time is doing it consciously) it does end up simplifying a lot of issues to binary choices so it can fit them in the game format, none of this is unreasonable but it's also nothing that breaks the game, to me it's part of its charm. One thing you can't criticise it for, however, is being shallow. A couple of people seem to have the idea that this game is shallow because the story doesn't go wild places. To some people it seems a story doesn't have "stakes" if it's not about bullets and explosions and the end of the world. Furthermore, it appears some people believe this game to be incoherent in its themes? so let's make something clear: This game is unapologetically anticapitalist, and I'd bet my left foot it's made by anarchists of the PUNK variety (ffs people learn where these terms come from) It's not "liberal" and it's not just vaguely criticising modern society. It is extremely political, the entire point of the story is not to show where a capitalist hellhole could end up, it's to show a reflection of what modern life in a capitalist country already is like, put in a different context to showcase it better. It's a critique of commodity markets, class hierarchies, hierarchies in general, racism, cisheteronormativity, the commodification of people, and even of people's memories and the very concept of freedom, and how all of this is driven by capitalism and the search for profit. Literally every problem you will encounter in the game, every person within it is under the active oppression of the system they live under and even if they want to act around it they end up just working for it. This game, is not incoherent, unless you have a view of politics so incredibly shallow that it blinds you to the obvious. As I said, this game is not very subtle with its themes. Literally the first interaction I had with an NPC were a pair of punks trying to build community parks, which has earned them the label of terrorists by CorpSec. If you think this is sattire, you don't know about Food not Bombs, the anarchist organisation made by punks which feeds the poor without support by some rich guy and for that it's in the FBI list of terrorist organizations. The game takes a lot of positions, Rania (the main character) takes some that I don't agree with, but I don't know how you can see a world where a company has reprogrammed an android (a category of person which is meant to be seen as representative of racial minorities) to only be able to sing his political speeches, thus making it a bit that no one takes seriously and making sure it never goes past being "funky music" and then claim the game to be a "shallow criticism", specially if after doing that you go on to criticise the game for "complaining about capitalism and still participating in it" Anyways, can you tell I'm kinda frustrated with this? GAME GOOD, BUY
