I have been looking for an Extraction shooter that is PVE only, and low on the resource cost side so that my old laptop can play. This game suits my criteria perfectly. It's easily playable with controller too which I appreciate greatly. I also like the low poly style cause I play Surroundead too.
Game is fun but definitely needs more content. Well worth the price, though. In terms of bad things: - Why don't vendor NPCs sell decent guns? Money feels kinda useless for the most part. - Boss loot is underwhelming to say the least. - Higher tier room loot is underwhelming. - Bosses are not difficult. - NPCs will 360 you the moment you shoot them. This is not quite an immersive game but that's simply ridiculous. - World feels empty.
I've had a ton of fun playing this game. That's the primary metric for me! I know that many people feel like super polished graphics or a 'AAA' level of polish or depth are critical for a "good" game. I don't necessarily agree with that. The most important thing for me is enjoyment and this game delivers. There's good control over the level of difficulty and the settings seem to allow playing across a wide spec of equipment. Perhaps the thing that stands out the most is the developers. I believe it's primarily a team of two? I noticed in the Discussions section in Steam that a number of people with visual difficulties complained about the lack of an FOV slider. Not too long afterwards an update was released including that feature. I've seen any number of comments that the developers responded to almost immediately offering help and suggestions. My personal experience is that when I lost my 120-hour save game, through NO FAULT OF THE DEVELOPER, I might add ( my laptop overheated and crashed ), I mentioned my experience in a feature request. Not only did the developer explain to me how I could back up my saves manually while they worked on a feature, they provided me with a new save game to jump-start me back to approximately the level I started and provided some gear so that I could resume my play in very short order. The developer was very gracious and helpful - above and beyond, in my opinion. I highly suggest giving this game a try if you enjoy looter shooters. The mechanics are fun, you can choose your own difficulty, and the developers seem to be VERY worthy of support. Hopefully, we'll see more exciting things from them in the future!
For $5 you really can't go wrong. There's plenty to do and the gameplay is solid, there's a few maps, and plenty of loot if you're into shooting, looting, and selling items for money. The one gripe I found is that when you reach level 10 you unlock the shooting range. This gives you a look at all the different weapons and attachments in the game, which is very cool. However, it carries your inventory into the shooting range and therefore you have to make space and unequip your current weapons to try a new gun as well as pick up attachments and ammo. It would be nice if the gun range was separate and temporarily made your inventory null so you can freely pick up and try different guns. Also, when you leave the shooting range it takes you back to the main menu instead of the hideout, so that's kind of annoying. Other than that it's a nice little game and it's cheap so you can have a lot of fun with it for just a few dollars. Looking forward to seeing what else gets added.
