Decay really isn’t as bad as it first appears. At a glance, it looks like yet another low-budget point and click title the kind that’s been flooding the market in recent years but Decay sets itself apart just enough to be worth a look. It’s still nothing groundbreaking, but it does a few things better than most. Decay is a point and click puzzle horror game, and thankfully the puzzles hit the right difficulty level (some might be a little too easy). That alone makes it a step above many games in the genre, which often rely on overly specific, walkthrough required solutions Scratches comes to mind. The atmosphere is well built, and the game does a good job pulling you in at first, though the lack of depth in the story and characters makes it hard to truly step into the main character Sam’s shoes. The game tells its story an admittedly creative one at an appropriate pace for its length. A few dramatic cutscenes help flesh things out, and some are surprisingly intense. It’s refreshing, since many point and click horror games suffer from rough animation and dated visuals. Decay looks and feels a bit above average. However, even strong execution can’t elevate Decay past being just that: an above average point and click horror game. The story feels incomplete, and the storytelling methods don’t help. Most of the narrative is delivered through newspaper snippets the only moments where voice acting appears and the delivery is painfully slow. Worse, there’s no voice acting in the cutscenes, which is exactly where it was needed. I can read text on my own; when two characters argue, I want to hear them, not read subtitles. The game also suffers from some odd design decisions. Navigation can be awkward, since some rooms always load with the same orientation no matter where you entered from. Because movement is slideshow style, entering a room from the right might still drop you on the left, facing the door you just came through. But not all rooms behave this way, which makes the layout feel inconsistent and surprisingly confusing. Fortunately, the maps are small, so you quickly memorize them and the issue fades. Despite the cramped spaces, the areas have a good density of interactable objects and puzzles, so the limited size isn’t a major downside. It ultimately didn’t leave a lasting impact. For a dramatic horror game about murder, self discovery, and deeper life questions, Decay should’ve made me feel a lot more than it did.

From the very first moments, this eerie journey pulled me in completely. The atmosphere is thick with tension — every creak, every flicker of light feels like a whisper from something just out of sight 👁️. What impressed me most is how effectively it builds dread without relying on cheap jumpscares. Instead, it traps you in a psychological spiral, where mystery and fear slowly blend into fascination. The story unfolds through haunting visuals and clever puzzles that make you feel part of the protagonist’s fragmented mind 🧩. It’s the kind of experience that leaves you both unsettled and strangely satisfied — like finishing a dark novel you couldn’t put down 📖. What truly stands out is how immersive and personal the horror feels. The minimalist design works perfectly — it doesn’t overwhelm but rather amplifies the unease 😨. Every step forward feels like descending deeper into someone’s fractured reality, and by the end, you’re not sure if you escaped or became part of it. For those who love slow-burning psychological horror with depth, this one absolutely deserves your time ❤️‍🔥.

Decay: The Mare is a pure horror game. Even if it does not quite succeed as an adventure game, its great atmosphere and music is more than enough reason to give it a chance.

Decay - The Mare mixes elements from hidden objects and point and click games in an adventure with a nice soft horror atmosphere. The story is definitely not a trivial one, catches the player till the very end and has multiple endings. The game is divided in three chapters which makes possible to enjoy it in short one hour gaming sessions. The technical implementation is fine. A big plus for supporting multiple platforms. If you are not looking for jump scares every 5 minutes and want to enjoy a chilling game with a great story but with no much action, you should try Decay - The Mare. The game is worth its price.

It is a point-and-click adventure game with a psychological horror atmosphere. The combination of polished graphics, atmospheric sound, and challenging puzzles creates a compelling experience. It feels like playing Resident Evil or Silent Hill reimagined as a point-and-click adventure.
