Do I recommend this game? Yes, with one major caveat. Scriptwelder's writing, artstyle, humor, and puzzle design is on point, providing a fitting capstone to the Deep Sleep trilogy and a delightful dance with Don't Escape 4, something that is nearly required reading for this game. The combat falls flat. It is a grindy, unpleasant mess that, even when fought through, provides no satisfaction - only the question "why did I bother?" If you're here for the combat, find another game. If you're here for the Scriptwelder experience, put on story mode without shame.
Its a scriptwelder game. I love every game he's made, and this is no exception. Its the same point and click puzzle gameplay from the original trilogy, while adding new stuff like combat and the imagine mechanic to keep it fresh. Also this might be the best looking pixel art game I've ever played. I know some 3d stuff was used, like for examining items, but im pretty sure most of it is pixel art, and it just blew me away. absolute cinema, scriptwelder the goat cooks once again
After playing the original trilogy on my browser almost 10 years ago, seeing a sequel come and wrap things up in the best way possible was a dream come true. Buy this game. But first, buy and play the original trilogy and the Don't Escape games. To scriptwelder: your games are amazing and inspire me every time I play them. I can't wait to see what you're up to next!
Interesting horror game. The story and writing are so-so but the environments you explore and the setting as a whole are interesting. Lots of resource and item management, and the turn-based combat feels pretty stressful, especially when you don't have the right weapons for the encounter. I liked how some encounters can be avoided by clever use of the environment or a right tool (like dropping a load of tough enemies off a bridge) - made the game feel a lot more "puzzle-y". Even when I had to repeat levels to increase my strength, there was usually something new to discover or even an optional boss that gave you a strong weapon to use later. Clever game.
