March 2026
I really enjoy this game as a great game to play with friends. It's not without it's pitfalls but as a whole I'm enjoying it. Pros: - Runs very smoothly, no hiccups in performance. - The music is really good, voice acting is good. Overall I enjoy the sound design. - The co-op is solid, we've had very little in the way of disconnects and if they do the player can join right back from where they left off. It's great. I've played so many games recently where everyone gets kicked or we have to restart the game to get them in. None of that here. - The save system is good. I have three files going right now for different runs with different friends. - The level design is really good for the most part. I love the idea that we are sitting around a table and just have the most amazing DM who builds crazy little sets for us. - The spells and attacks are really decent as a whole, and when they hit it feels really good. The not so great: - The RNG sucks at times. I've had runs where my friend and I miss every other, or every third roll. It SUCKS. - When trying to attack, way to often it just places me next to an enemy instead of actually attacking. On my screen I'm hovering over, but I'm going to guess when I let go of the mouse I moved over just enough pixels that the game though I wanted to only be in the block. The bad: - The rat level. Just all of it. - Part of what makes the rat level so bad is the respawn rate. I am okay-ish with never ending respawns, though it gets tiring.. but when it's mobs spawning in the dark to the point where I entered a room and it was literally so full that my entire party died in one turn? That's too many. There should have been a cap on monsters spawns, like.. maybe only 4x as may monsters in the map as there are players. Could we have limited it to only 16 attacks in a row against us? Instead of 16 against each player? - The character balance. The wizard can be fun, but it's really kind of bad that it takes two rounds for every attack and then you miss flinging a bolt of lightning and hit nothing. The characters should have had more pocket attacks. The bard, for instance, starts with a heal and I went an entire level with ZERO other heals. I had potions, I had teleports, I had everything BUT heals. And when you have a party of four his buff is basically a waste as you need three turns per player to get the full buff, but even if you skip yourself - that's 12 turns. The buff lasts three turns. That means you either pick a person and that's the one you buff, or you just waste it. Then, as the bard, I got almost nothing in the way of good attacks. I spent the entire time just stabbing things and then standing next to fountains. There is just too much RNG and when you have characters that have a base attack that shoots across the screen, you have one that summons pets that do really good damage and blow up if they die, then you have the mage/wizard who just... sort of does little. It needed more love there. With that though, I like this game and sent it to all my friends because this game is only fun with co-op. I know it's done, and I wish we had more DLC or more content or maybe... maybe turn it into something like Foundry where we can buy story packs? That'd have been great. I realize there is a limited run on how much enjoyment I'll get out of it and that's normal for all games - but I also realize that didn't need to be the case. If the devs could have just opened this up a bit then this has so much more potential. I do recommend this game, overall. I'd rate it fairly high if I did numeric ratings, I like it enough to have sent it to 7-8 people and I enjoy every time I play. I'd say watch for a sale as the game isn't really updated or maintained anymore, it seems, so it's not going anywhere; however, if it goes on sale I would recommend you and at least one other friend grab it. The game is really fun.

I don't understand how there current reviews for this game are mixed. It is brilliant!! 1. Super challenging on some maps. This is a huge plus for me I like to have to use my brain and it feels so satisfying to complete the hardest levels. 2. Looks great. I spent 2-3 hours almost every night playing this with friends and i have such a better time than other games we play. 3. I've never experienced any crashes or bugs and it has great crossplay my friend plays it in VR while i'm on PC. As for things I would change: 1. More character progression / level variety. 2. More lore. Looks like both of those things will be addressed in their next game Battlemarked I am so hyped for! If this game was the foundation then I have high hopes. Thumbs up team.

The game kind of railroads you down a certain play style, you can really only win if you play it exactly as they want you to. Its a bit disappointing. You have all these really neat cards and abilities and all you can really do is keep your distance and move as quickly as possible to find the key and then exit. Just about anything else and you are severely punished. I do not think this is a bad game. It can be especially fun with friends, and so long as you play by their rules it is actually somewhere between fair to difficult in terms of difficultly once you get it down. With that being said I cant help but feel like if the game had an actual DM, nobody would like him. The fun and sporadicness of the game changing on the fly to try and create unique and unforgettable scenarios just isn't here. Games from one to the next will play out all in basically the same way. Still gets a recommend as long as you keep the above in mind!

I've played this hours and hours on MetaQuest Oculus and love it. If you like an immersive turn based game of D&D, well, this is the one. There are different levels with different difficulties, and yes, sometimes the respawning can be annoying and rolling 4 'skulls' on the die in a row really sucks - it seems the game knows when I "REALLY" need a good roll. You can play up to four characters [so you won't get powned....], of a variety of characters [Wizard, Archer, Guardian, Rogue, Sorceress & Barbarian] with different skills. You select the actions [2 per turn] and do your thing - attack, move, heal, etc. etc. It's the same game on Steam, however, the controls are different. The zoom in/out, twist left/right are key in being able to get the angles correct, etc., and are lacking comparatively. However, if you haven't played on Oculus, you won't know the difference. In a way, it reminds me of the old Atari game Gauntlet ["Red Warrior Needs Food!"] So, go ahead and get it. Enjoy!
