LOVE this game. Peak puzzle-strategy-roguelike. Your macro-scale strategic decisions matter, and yet each encounter is its own little puzzle, which is just a masterclass in enemy design and balancing. Progression is also done right, as each character has its own "mini-campaign" consisting of various challenge modes that provides actual gameplay differences, not just stat-tweeks. It also avoids the meta-progression trap.
Just beat the game with 100% achievements. Now I am a bit sad I beat it. It has a lot of gameplay and for only $6 on sale it was a steal. The characters are silly and original. The gameplay is both relaxing and engaging making it suitable for most moods I am in, the soundtrack and characters are lovable and the game was bug free for me. Like many games of this genre, it can get very hard, I played the game on relaxed mode and even then. I may have had to edit a text file in order to beat several levels and speedrun some of the achievements. Even then I have 83 hours on record. Hope a sequel comes out. If you are into deckbuilder or mini RPG like games, this is a must have.
A rogue-like dungeon crawler up-ended with changing mechanics depending on the dungeon and/or which die you play as. Adorable graphics (seriously, if you ever make a plush Baby Squid, I'd be there in a heartbeat), challenging but not frustrating puzzles, can play as long as you wish and a bouncy soundtrack that totally slaps!
You know how rougelike games have those moments where you either get incredibly lucky and steamroll through or crash and burn at a crucial moment all because of RNG? Well this game is all about the original RNG: dice rolls. This is an interesting rougelike that focuses on attacks being based on the dice roll and managing a weapon load out that can may or may not have synergy with what you're going for. The concept is nice and the music is funky. The gameplay doesn't get boring as the character differences and difficulty settings offers better challenge. Its something, but it does bring out the feeling of "the house always wins" as you defy odds to win regardless. Overall, its a decent game for those that really want to test their luck.
