I debated on getting this game for YEARS before finally picking it up on sale. I am so glad I finally did. Now, I'm not going to sugarcoat it. They BUTCHERED the story in this game. Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End is the third movie of that series, however this game by the same name starts off with the first mission happening before the beginning of Dead Man's Chest, the second movie of the series. It really feels like they compressed the 2nd and 3rd movie into a game and just gave it the same title as the third movie. I'm guessing if you haven't seen the movies it would be tougher to follow. Also, the dialogue is ridiculous at times. Still, I loved every moment of it. You are able to rebind the keys, which was really nice. The fixed camera aesthetic was something I don't see much, even having one of them at what I think was a fountain in the middle of the square, reminding me of Castle Town from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The Quick Time Events were fun, especially the Jackanisms (love that name), they were a fitting use for Jack's quirky shenanigans though all button prompts were symbols, not keys which takes a minute to remember what they all are, but really wasn't that big of a deal in my playthrough. Maybe it's the nostalgia from the era when movies would be turned into games, maybe it's the simplicity, maybe it's the fact that the pirate game genre is so lackluster that this was a way to get a quick fix instead of going through another playthrough of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. Whatever it was, I truly enjoyed this old game, quirks and all. I only got stuck a few times but it didn't take a guide to figure out how to get unstuck. OH, this game will not run on Windows 11 on it's own, however there IS a guide to patch it so you can choose a better resolution than the game offers and thus allowing it to run. I did have to do that before I could play, and it was a really straight forward setup coming from someone who doesn't bother with mods if they aren't on the Steam workshop. I loved this game and recommend checking it out on sale if you have a bit of patience for movie games from the 2000s. But again, they destroyed the story, making me laugh in the process. It's the perfect excuse for me to go and rewatch all the movies :D Backlog Games Beaten 2025 29/50

An amazing childhood classic. The levels, characters, side missions, challenges, and unlockable content make this game so much fun. I took 11.5 hours to 100% the game. A must play that still holds up today!

Good game in terms of childhood favourites BUT the trailer is false advertising. The trailer shows the PS3/Xbox 360 port which honestly back in 2007 we should have all gotten but nope we got the PS2 version ported over instead which looks horrible in comparison and it just shows utter laziness on the devs part if we did not even get a half decent looking port. I grew up on this which is the only reason I'm giving a positive rating. Otherwise if you aren't buying this purely for nostalgia then don't bother.
