Nice snappy gameplay. Omnidirectional dash is always a fun time. Good secrets. Fun Bosses. Nice exploration. Satisfying hack n slashy combat. Decent story. Fast travel is unlocked almost instantly. I really enjoyed the time trials/guantlets in this game. The runes were pretty diverse and let you play the way you want to. Going to end up in my B tier. Took slightly under 4 hours to finish the game with 96% completion. I didnt feel like farming currency for the last 4%.
Divinum is a fast-paced, aggressive 2D Metroidvania with tight controls, some fairly fun trials of combat and traversal throughout in an attractive pixelated dark fantasy landscape. While challenging at points and fun it is fair to say that it's more akin to "Baby's first Metroidvania" in comparison to some more robust games in the genre that offer deeper combat and platforming options and shorter as well, which may be a good or bad thing depending on the gamer as it's more than possible to beat the game within 6 to 12 hours if you're not a completionist who searches every nook and cranny like myself. I imagine this game would run like butter on most handhelds btw as it's not too demanding. That said, I really enjoyed my time in Divinum for what it was as at it's core it is easy to get into and a little addictive once you get going and I would recommend it for Metroidvania fans or anyone wanting a shorter experience as a palate cleanser. It's well worth it's $14.99 asking price.
Short but sweet, scratches the hollow knight itch but doesnt have much of an indepth story, for only 7 hours of gameplay (if you stretch it) I would wait for it to go on a steeper sale, combat is fluid and satisfying once you get the combos nailed down, would be cool to see some dlc's in the future to add more value, with this game being only a couple dollars less than hollow knight its a hard sell at full price for the length the game offers
The combat is a lot of fun! Extremely fluid and expressive. I'd hesitate to call it a Metroidvania, although there is some influence there, it'd a lot more linear and with a lot less backtrack than what you'd expect from a game like that. There are secrets out there to find though, and the linearity certainly does not detract from the fun, I'd just temper my expectations if you're hoping for a typical Metroidvania
