This game would have been great if their balancing decisions were not poor. The focus is more so on pressing big normals and spamming reflect as opposed to oki set ups and mixup. Good players will find a way to encourage more thought out play styles, but the over emphasis on skipping neutral, skipping defense into pressing big buttons belittles the whole experience. The defensive options are too strong, especially mid screen and it is much harder to cover them than to use them. A big balance patch would make this game a classic.

Played this a ton on console (300+ hours) and decided to repurchase it on PC. The animations are slick, the combat is addicting, and the different amount of team comps you can have add alot of depth to the gameplay. If you're a fan of fighting games, you'll most likely like this game alot. My main criticisms are the campaign, tutorials, and single-player content in general is lacking. There's not really a whole lot to do in the game and while the campaign does have alot of fun easter eggs, the stilted dialogue, map traversal, and cutscene direction (and lack thereof) came across as tedious and lack-of-budget. The arcade and side activities, like the dojo that was added in via post-launch updates, are also lacking to me since there's just not alot there. The main draw of the game is online and while I do think the devs nailed that, I wish those who prefer single-player content would have had a bit more to do. That said, I've played a ton online on console and I played around 100-150 matches on pc at the time of this review. It's still great and I still highly recommend this game. 9.0/10.

Great game, if you like dbfz and you like fighting games pick it up. this game can run on even the most trash pc. into 2024 there's still a pretty active community online. Wish they would bring back raids. the single player experience isn't too bad.
