The game may seem overwhelming at first, but it is the perfect balance between an ARPG and the Survivors type games. It has a graspable complexity to it once you are deeper in, in a way you can home brew your build(s) and find most things out through playing in-game. If you like loot, big passive trees and 'number go up' types of games. Please give it a try, especially for the amount of content it offers for its price.

Nice little mix between Danmaku and Hack n' Slash. You get endless waves of enemies in a small timed area, with a boss to beat at the end. But opposite to Danmakus where you loose part of the progress when you die and start rather naked again, you get skill points, weapons, gear, that you keep and a hideout to improve. To me , as an old player (and I mean very old :) ) it is a big plus that it's not necessary to dance with your fingers across the keyboard to play, it has an auto attack function and your main damage can be triggered from that. I'm not that far into end game , but it becomes grindy at some point like in most ARPG/H+S when you hunt your gear. First it's easy, later you have to understand the mechanics to get the really big numbers. One negative is, you don't get much ingame info/help, aside from snarky comments/tipps of an orc, so the forum/discord was the way for me. However, would buy it again.

The bad reviews are complaining exactly about what is the major draw of this game for it's players. This game is an infinite grind, with infinite progression. Every stat can be scaled to infinity, and there will always be a level you are too weak to beat. It is not a complicated game at its heart. You grind, get stronger, and then repeat, until you get tired and come back next season with a fresh update. If you don't like grinding for infinite progression then it's not your game, but if you're like me that's literally what you're looking for in some of your games.

Farming/Grinding/Timewaste the game. When I bought the game I was under the impression that it was a kind of roguelite, where you'd make a build every time you left the hub/"started a run". It's not. You make a build early on and stick to it for as long as you can be bothered to keep on farming. Every time you win a map, your reward is a bunch of currency and equipment to further enhance your build. The next run will be exactly like the first one, but with higher numbers. It's pretty decent for what it is, if you enjoy mindless farming then this is an excellent game, but if you're hoping for a game with variation, different upgrades, powers, relics or whatever else, then I'd stay clear. Your "build" consists of a weapon choice and a spell choice, the spell will be your main source of damage and the weapon is mostly cosmetic having very little influence on your build (hammer makes you invulnerable occasionally, bows and wands gives you range, the rest have no real advantages). It's a fine game, but you should know exactly what you're going into, it is farming, doing the same thing with the same spells and same weapons for hours on end, with the reward being only higher numbers.

If you are a fan or arpgs - this is a very casual experience control wise, but the crafting and gear solutions are much more involved and they have a skill tree very clearly based on the poe tree. For the price, I've enjoyed my time so far.
