The game loop is basically as follows: - Explore the planet on foot, by car, ship or spacecraft. - Gather resources. - Build the next tool that enables you to gather more or different resources and put it to use. - Sometimes: Build a special device to advance to the next stage of terraforming the current planet. Repeat. The game's mechanics make sense. They are not overly complex and are developed to the degree needed for the game. In general, this game does not punish you. There are no enemies. You have no skills to develop. When you die due to environmental hazards, you simply get resurrected at your base. The only thing that matters is the output of your factories. You can just slap your production lines down haphazardly or arrange them with precision. Either way, they'll produce the same amount of stuff. It's the same with base building: You can get by just fine dropping small cubes as workshops, or you can spend hours or even days building the most elaborate base ever. Except for one planet, it is impossible to fail. It just takes more or less time to terraform each planet. It's not a highly polished AAA game. Sometimes, clipping errors occur. There are enough assets, but not too many. Individual objects are somewhat clunky to use, but the vast majority handle well. The game has a nice progression. You can craft items by hand at the workbench, and in the endgame, you can even build a workbench that can produce 100 pieces of an item while you do something else (stepping away from the advanced workbench will not stop the job). However, if you prefer automation, you can automate absolutely anything except the very last construction step. Overall, the game tries to be fun, and it worked for me. If you like the idea of terraforming and automation, you should have a good time with it.
I really enjoyed this game. Is it janky, oh yes. But that does not hinder the playability, and like I have seen others say, is kind of charming. If you want to make a beautifully built factory, this is not the game for you. To address the other thing that people hate about this game, yes it is a Satisfactory + Planet Crafter mash up, but the one thing I will way this is one of the few crafting survival games that lets you actually modify the ground. Completely! Want to make a tunnel to bypass a mountain, you can do it. Want to build a mountain to block out the view of an unsightly factory, yep. Want to flatten everything, there are vehicles to make it happen. AND, once you do, the game remembers it and runs pretty well for a non-voxel based game that allows complete modification of the land. I remember trying that in Valheim and we had to wipe the server, as it became unplayable. This is a pretty fun game that is very playable, even on my ancient potato.
This is a fun game if you've already played The Planet Crafter and want a little more of that same serotonin. This adds automation and factory production to The Planet Crafter gameplay but is otherwise a clunkier and more hallow game. Still you'll get your money's worth and it is fun to play. I recommend buying it, especially if you can get a deal.

This is like a lowrent version of Planet Crafter smashed with a Temu version of Satisfactory. I think both of these games are better than Eden Crafter, but it's still a fun romp, although short for the genre (30-35h to terraform the planet, full techs). If you enjoy automation, go play Satisfactory instead. If you don't care for it, go play Planet Crafter first. If you are looking for simpler & shorter with a splash of both, this might be it for you. Controller support is janky (the map is barely usable) as is character physics in general. It's even less believable than most game in the genre (which is not a high bar), with a paint-the-map gameplay that flies in the face of highschool grade science (you can't clean the left half of a lake, water churns and mixes). Still, it's laid back, very player friendly (you can setup belts at crazy distance with no support) and the sense of progression is solid. UX wise, it's super rough and the production value is overall pretty low. The graphics are not great, but I didn't find that to be a problem, especially since optimization isn't great. My GPU was sweating near endgame with trees and construction everywhere. So overall, it's a lower-middle-tier experience, but if you are a fan of the genre and can get this on special, you can do much worse.
