Overall I really enjoyed this game, apart from a few things. Most of the puzzles feel really well crafted and exist believably in the world, some however only make sense in the context of this being a puzzle game. There are some bigger puzzles spanning multiple of the main areas of the game, which makes the world feel real and gives you the feeling of really figuring the world out. Speaking of figuring it out: The story begins by giving you a load of questions but over the course of the playthrough you figure out most of what has happened and how and why, again giving you a true feeling of investigation. As for the horror aspect: Speaking as someone who doesn't really like or play a lot of horror games, this game is not so scary. The theme is definitely horror and there are disturbing things happening, but I didn't really get scared. There are a few glitches here and there, some annoyances with the controls and the game doesn't feel like the most polished, there isn't anything too bad from the technical side. And lastly, since such a recommendation is what brought me to this game I will say this: If you loved Outer Wilds, give this game a go. You have (mostly) a similar approach to puzzle design and get a similar satisfaction of figuring out the world and the story. Although I have to say that Enigma of Fear is not as good as Outer Wilds in pretty much every regard, it is still a very good game.

Quite honestly one of the best games I've ever played. It's a very unique horror game with some of the coolest boss fights I've ever played and really fun puzzles! Amazing storyline and world building. This got me to go watch Paranormal Order on youtube and get the comic book too. 10/10. I wish it was longer. I wish there was a sequel. I will replay this game over and over because I didn't want it to end.

Ugh, hard to recommend but It's worth a play. It features an interesting world and great brain teasers. Unfortunately as the game goes on some puzzles go into moon logic territory. But the first two thirds of the game are great as you piece together bit by bit a semblance of a clue of what the hell is going on in the perimeter. The English voice acting for the main character and her sidekicks is kinda... bad... at times, but it is serviceable. Verity and Jaser's actors sure do a lot of heavy lifting. The ending unfortunately, is where it kinda falls apart. It gets a bit too meta in how you need to manipulate menu stuff to progress the story. The final boss battle is a huge pain in the ass introducing a parry mechanic that was never relevant in the game until that moment, afterwards you need to complete a sequence of actions while your interface and screen get covered and you just have to.. deal with it. And at the end it's one of those philosophical talk to the final boss and become best friends forever kind of ending... bleh. There are also some plot threads that remain sort of unanswered, maybe I was unable to connect the dots, but it's not entirely clear: why/how is it a cycle, what triggers the reset? why did Sophie have a picture with Jaser as a baby, given how he is a Strach and his father is Abraham and his mother was also a Strach. Why it gets even more screwy is that he does in fact attempt to replace Mia. Maybe it's just some form of jealousy, but Sophie also seemed to sort of view Jaser as a child, judging by the recording that I thought was left for Mia but actually was left for him Why was there a photo of... Calisto? at the end How was Mia able to break the loop as a sort of unforeseen agent, if she was born inside the cycle?

Gotta give this game an 8/10. I LOVED the puzzles, which were extremely well translated to English. I was able to solve all of them on my own except for one puzzle I had to look up because my hearing is awful. Two things would increase my rating of the game; the ability to skip cutscenes, and better combat. I love split second pixel perfect gameplay when you have pixel perfect controls, but the 2D sprites representing 3D entities made split second aiming extremely difficult, and having a slightly misaligned angle of attack could change a combo from connecting all three hits to leaving you wide open for a counter attack. I play Sekiro and Bloodborne and Dark Souls, so its not that I can't do precise and challenging combat, just that this one had some mismatches. That being said, I got this game to fill out a sketchbook with notes and drawings. And it delivered. My sketchbook is absolutely FILLED with the ramblings of a mad man! Didn't take as long to beat as Blue Prince, so a little disappointed there. And I wish the puzzles opened up more puzzles. Most puzzles didn't lead to more past the puzzle solution. Overall though, if you want a game to fill out a notebook or sketchbook, highly recommend.

Enjoyed the game for the puzzles and story. Combat is not its main focus. Even the bosses are more of a puzzle base. Took me 20 hours to complete the story.
