My Review of Eternal Evil I think Eternal Evil stands out as an impressive Resident Evil clone exhibiting fluid gameplay with good shooting mechanics. Its clever use of a check ammo mechanic and toggle-able laser pointer with aim down sights is an excellent way to minimize the usage of on screen UI elements. Level design is cohesive and tight while maintain a level of believability. Eternal Evil gives the player freedom to explore without giving the player too much freedom to explore areas they shouldn’t be in. There is a careful balance of level area access with puzzle item distribution that has you looking in the right places in the right time. Puzzles make you think and aren’t so abstract they require a rocket science degree to solve. Eternal Evil also doesn’t rely on puzzles to artificially inflate gameplay time. The positives listed above don't take away from the fact there are some small issues with Eternal Evil. Damage feedback to the player against melee attacks feels bad. While difficult to pin exactly what is missing it feels like player response to attacks lacks weight. There are also times when the movement of boss level enemies feels artificially and disproportionately sped up. This leads to the player getting repeatedly attacked sometimes ending in death. It feels like when the enemy is sped up there should be some sort of scripted cinematic attack that throws the player back to give the player time to “reset”. With all of this in mind I have to remind myself this game was made by one person, and this one developer made a COMPLETE game that some AAA studios need to take a long hard look at and study. From beginning to end with Eternal Evil I was invested in fighting my way to the next room to see what was in store. In my opinion this game was worth the paltry sum of $30 USD I paid for it. I hope the developer returns to the world of Eternal Evil with a follow up story but sometimes things are better left to stand alone. Oh, and bonus points for having the character say the name of the game in the game.

a few bugs here and there, nothing game breaking. overall good game. gun play is fun. game has replayability with unlockables from either completing the game or buying them with euros that you pick up around the game in well hidden places. plenty of weapons with cool bosses and enemies to use them on. puzzles are challenging but not too pretentious or overthought. the environments stay relatively fresh, with no two areas looking too similar and feature both wide open areas and claustrophobic corridors to navigate. the heavily inspired resident evil style inventory is simple and satisfying. there are also some interesting mechanics at play with the basic enemies too. this game is an easy recommendation for anyone who loves campy survival horror games.

Good scares, decent puzzles, despite the cheesy story line. I liked the challenge and the thrill of survivor horror in first person, despite being a fixed/hybrid camera lover. Hopefully someone will invest in this game and become a franchise.

I was not expecting this game to be as good as it was. A solid Resident Evil style horror experience.

Long story short; it's kinda like 'Resident Evil: Skyrim'. I don't know how else to properly explain it, except I had a LOT of fun playing. Some of the enemies and bosses can be a pain in the ass if you get stuck against a wall or in a corner, which sucks- and in the beginning if I got pinned against a wall, I would be desperately trying to shank the vampires with my knife or something like in a proper RE game, but ah, no luck. Just gotta keep moving and avoid that shit. The vampires get stronger as they bite you, which was a really great idea that I don't think I've seen anyone do so vividly before- the first time it happened I got rekt, but I also was really impressed and had a good laugh, too. I mean, it makes sense that that would happen but I've never seen it done so openly before. It's always like "vampire regained a little hp", which is pretty disappointing; aren't they supposed to be supernatural killing machines? A small detail but worth mentioning. The music is good, the lore was surprisingly vast and tells one heck of a cool story. Reading the lore after beating the game, I was enthralled when I saw the story went even deeper. It all starts out pretty basic; pew pew, some neat comic book panels, and imperfect translations- but the further I went, the more I enjoyed it's quirks and as the action intensified and the story unfolded, I really had fun watching the comic book stuff play out in front of me. The art, graphics and supreme attention to detail makes this game a macabre feast for the eyes- yeah, there are some occasional clipping issues like you'd see in 'Skyrim' (e.g.: a face sticking out through a door when a monster is aggro'ed), but nothing that's a problem. I think some people had issues with the game in the past(?) but I didn't experience any crashes or glitches that caused any kind of problem- pretty fluid for a game made by ONE person. Sure, he gives credit to the people that supported and assisted him, but for the lack of true manpower this game turned out REALLY well. I know it's been said before, but can you imagine what this guy and his friends could do with some actual money and a proper team/studio? It would be nuts! All I can say is that I hope that day comes. Frfr, no cap. At the end, the game allows you to choose paths, and allowed me to do what I wanted to do since about halfway or so through the game. I'll let you find out what that's about for yourself. >:)
