I really like the game. If you're looking for incredible, this isn't the game, but I enjoy the story and feel like its a great addition to the Fate series. There are many characters to play as and with the three endings and the additional dlc, you'll be playing the game for a bit.

A difficult recommendation. The story, the characters, the artstyle and the cutscenes are done very, very well. Even if the player doesn't have knowledge of the Fates franchise, the game is still very enjoyable with an intriguing and compelling set of characters that are given ample time to shine. The way that the story progresses, seeing how the scant few choices can shape the philosophy of the main character is interesting. The way that the New Game plus is implemented to add on to the foundation of the story and the character that have been established in the first playthrough is incredible. That's why it is such a shame that so compelling a story is carried on the back of a very faulty gameplay loop. Firstly, it feels like the game was initially designed to be a musou game and the maps were made for it, but then was forced to convert into an action RPG part way through the development. There are multiple maps, all of them the size of smaller battle maps in musou game, so not too big but big enough to be a pain to traverse, representing different regions and towns in Tokyo, each accessible from an overworld map, and all of these maps are large, empty and unused after they are visited once or twice. If the map was merged into one single large map, it would have served the game better. Secondly, the gameplay. Due to the mechanic of having to break the shell of enemy bosses in order to do damage, or else the main character's attack will just do chip damage and bounce off the enemy shield, the fights in this game largely boils down to the cycle of long, grueling and heavily relied on dodging in order to reposte to do shell damage until the shell is broken, followed by a rush to do as much damage that can be done until the opponent dies or they recover their shell. This mechanic makes the fights unnecessarily long and painfully boring to engage with. The dodge mechanic could be fun, but it feels so janky and floaty, and the hitbox is the typical musou hitboxes which is unreliable, adding onto the frustration of the fights. There are mechanics like affinity power and magic that can help bypass the monotony, but due to this game not being a musou game where there'll always be mooks to farm for musou attacks or power ups while fighting a boss, the lack of player ability to reliably and easily generate that power in the middle of the fight means that even reliance on that power to get through fights can only go so far. I recommend this game on the story and character alone. When it comes to gameplay, there are better action RPGs elsewhere and even within the Fates franchise itself, the Extella games does the musou + fate gameplay a lot better than this one. But the story and character is so good, it should not be skipped.

First of all, I don't know anything about Fate (except the memes) I just like musou games, and if it's good, it's good. In reality, it is. Compared to a certain musou game that has all boys, this one really got me addicted. The difficulty is also perfect even for beginners. The story was amazing. The interface and the gameplay was also fun. Battle Recollections was also fun. I had a great time playing the game. DLC is also a must.

Very good fate, very good story and gameplay and the characters have goated design. I recommend getting all the endings because the last one is more fulfilling than the other ones. DLCs are just extras, they're a bit mid and meant to be played after main storyline.
