I am greatly enjoying this FMV game, if you can put aside your language barrier and really invest in reading and thinking you'll find a masterpiece in adventure, story and engagement. You are the detective, solve the case.

FLAM EVAW is an FMV detective thriller that doubles as a romance sim. It’s a sequel/spin-off to Detective, Please Protect My Secrets, and it moves the action onto a massive luxury cruise ship. The Good Production Value: This is one of the better-looking FMV games out there. The cruise ship setting gives it a high-budget, cinematic feel that doesn't look like it was filmed in someone’s basement. Actual Gameplay: Unlike many FMV games that are just "click for dialogue," this has a "Hardcore Reasoning" mode. You collect clue cards, use a skill tree for your female assistants, and actually have to solve the case. It feels more like a game and less like just a movie. Content: With over 7 hours of footage and 12 different endings, there’s a lot to do. The mix of suspense (investigating the Rainbow Crime Organization) and romance keeps the pacing from getting stale. The Bad Complexity: The "Realistic" difficulty mode can be genuinely punishing if you miss small details. It’s easy to get a "Game Over" or a bad ending if you aren't paying close attention to every clue. UI Clutter: Because of the added RPG elements (skill trees and item bags), the screen can feel a bit crowded. It still carries some of that mobile-game interface design that doesn't always look great on a PC. Tone Shifts: Sometimes the transition from "serious detective work" to "romantic fanservice" feels a bit jarring. Final Verdict It’s a 8/10. If you want an FMV game that actually makes you use your brain instead of just picking romance options, this is a strong choice. It’s a step up in complexity from Heroines Through My Lens or Five Hearts.

FLAM EVAW serves as a direct continuation of Detective, Guard My Secret! and expands the series into a larger, more dynamic detective adventure. You return as Kurosawa, following a new trail that leads to the luxury cruise ship Chilanhao, where investigation, danger, and character drama intertwine. The game builds noticeably on the previous title: evidence is now presented through a detailed clue-card system, deductions rely on matching information, and both solo and partner-based investigations add variety. Skill-tree abilities and character-specific support actions further deepen the sense of involvement. The number of clues can feel overwhelming, but the design is forgiving incorrect attempts carry no penalty, and correct reasoning is rewarded with clear progress indicators. Production quality remains high for an FMV title, with clean visuals, expressive performances, and optional modes that adjust style, pacing, and even the protagonist’s voice. Humor and playful moments continue to appear between tense sequences, creating the same “serious on the surface, playful underneath” tone that defined the first game. FLAM EVAW leans more toward detective gameplay than pure romance, but the branching choices, multiple endings, and character interactions give it strong replay value. For players who enjoy FMV mysteries with light relationship elements, this expansion is a polished and engaging follow-up. Check out more FMV games at [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45578719]FMV Asia | 真人互动影像游戏社

Fun game, but English translation is pretty bad. Funny moment: Aiko criminal ending had me laughing. Kills final boss, gets arrested and no one takes her gun away from her? She just casually walks off, with the officers, gun still in hand. LMAO. Attention to details is very important :-) Going to go play it again now. Highly recommend.

FLAM EVAW is an ambitious Chinese narrative-driven adventure that pushes the boundaries of the interactive film format by blending cinematic storytelling, detective gameplay, and character-driven drama. Developed and published by Beijing Wanhe Ruisheng Cultural Media Co., Ltd. in collaboration with Xirui Interactive Studio, it builds upon the studio’s earlier works in live-action storytelling such as *Detective, Please Protect My Secrets*. The result is a high-production, choice-based experience centered around Maple Kurosawa, a young detective drawn into a sprawling conspiracy involving the Rainbow Crime Organization. Rather than relying solely on linear storytelling, the game creates a branching web of choices, skill-based deductions, and emotional decisions that place the player at the heart of a tense crime drama filled with mystery, danger, and moral ambiguity. From the opening sequence, FLAM EVAW immerses players in a cinematic atmosphere reminiscent of an interactive film rather than a traditional game. The detailed performances, voice acting, and presentation evoke the feeling of watching a thriller unfold, but with every decision directly influencing the outcome. The player’s role as Maple Kurosawa is defined by both his sharp intellect and emotional complexity, especially as he works alongside several female assistants who each bring unique personalities, abilities, and personal stories into the investigation. These characters are not just side figures; they become integral to the moral and emotional core of the story, and the game’s branching system allows players to pursue either deeper personal relationships or a more focused detective route. This duality is one of FLAM EVAW’s most compelling aspects—it allows players to shape their experience based on whether they prefer interpersonal storytelling or pure crime-solving intrigue. Gameplay-wise, the developers clearly aimed to expand the boundaries of the interactive film genre. Instead of offering a passive viewing experience, the game introduces multiple layers of interaction. Players collect clue cards, explore environments, and use a skill-tree system to upgrade Maple’s reasoning abilities or unlock new interactions with his assistants. This “super hardcore reasoning mode” challenges players to synthesize evidence and make logical deductions, testing observation and memory as much as intuition. The mechanics may not rival full-fledged detective simulators in depth, but they enrich the experience and provide a sense of agency rarely found in cinematic games. Moreover, the inclusion of a “Plot Tree System” and skill-based dialogue choices ensures that replayability remains high, encouraging players to revisit key points to uncover different outcomes or character revelations. The presentation is one of the game’s major achievements. Built on the Unity engine, FLAM EVAW features an impressive level of visual polish for an indie title, combining live-action performances with stylized cinematic framing. Players can switch between two distinct modes—Classic Movie and Immersive Movie—each offering a different tonal experience, and even choose between two voice performances for the protagonist. These options highlight the developers’ attention to personalization and player comfort. The art direction and lighting complement the moody detective tone, and the careful use of sound design and music further enhances the tension during interrogation and reasoning sequences. For players seeking a strong narrative ambience akin to modern FMV thrillers, FLAM EVAW easily stands out among its contemporaries. Yet, the game’s adult-oriented themes firmly establish it as a mature experience. Violence, criminal activity, psychological trauma, and suggestive content are all part of the narrative fabric. Scenes involving drinking, nightclubs, and moral corruption paint a gritty portrait of urban life and organized crime. This commitment to realism and emotional weight adds depth but may alienate players expecting a more restrained or family-friendly tone. The narrative’s willingness to explore sensitive topics such as suicide, manipulation, and personal guilt also reinforces its mature classification, aligning it closer to interactive psychological dramas than standard visual novels. While the narrative and presentation are strong, FLAM EVAW’s scope appears relatively concise. Many players have reported finishing the main storyline in under four hours, suggesting a focused and tightly edited experience rather than a sprawling epic. For those who appreciate compact, replayable narratives, this length works to its advantage, as each route and ending can be experienced without fatigue. The multiple endings and branching character arcs encourage players to explore various choices, ensuring the game offers value beyond its initial runtime. However, those expecting extended gameplay or free exploration may find its linear nature limiting, as the core experience remains centered around narrative decisions and cinematic sequences. Community response has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly within Chinese gaming circles. Within its first week on Steam, FLAM EVAW earned a 98% positive rating across more than a thousand reviews, a testament to the game’s emotional resonance and production quality. Players praised its intricate storytelling, memorable characters, and well-acted scenes, often comparing it favorably to high-end visual novels and interactive dramas. The multilingual support—covering Simplified and Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean—has made it accessible to an international audience, and many have noted that the translation quality preserves much of the original tone and nuance. In the end, FLAM EVAW succeeds as a distinctive fusion of cinema and interactivity. It does not merely tell a story but invites the player to live through one, demanding moral reflection and emotional investment at every turn. Its technical execution, branching design, and character dynamics elevate it above typical FMV titles, showing the creative potential of China’s growing narrative game industry. While its mature tone, shorter playtime, and limited interactivity may not appeal to everyone, it stands as an engrossing experience for those who appreciate investigative drama, multi-path storytelling, and morally layered narratives. For players who enjoyed titles like *Contradiction: Spot the Liar!* or *The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story*, FLAM EVAW offers a similarly immersive yet distinct experience—a gripping tale of truth, deception, and human complexity told through the lens of interactive cinema. Rating: 10/10
