A Fantastic Sci-Fi Time-Travel FMV Experience I stumbled across Game of Fate: Chasing Through Time on my Steam recommendations after playing a lot of FMV titles, and it immediately grabbed my attention. Time-travel is still a pretty unexplored concept in FMVs , so seeing a game dive into it so boldly was exciting. After completing the main story, earning 100% achievements and obtaining a “Perfect Game,” I feel confident sharing my full thoughts, and hopefully helping you decide whether this title is worth your time. The Story The central question driving this game is simple but powerful: If you had the ability to change the past, what would you choose to fix? You play as a scientist experimenting with the mechanics of time. After years of work, you and your partner finally create a device capable of contacting your past self. This breakthrough sets off a chain of events involving a murder mystery, branching choices, and consequences that ripple across multiple timelines. Every decision you make, who you trust, who you save, and what truths you uncover shapes your future in unexpected ways. The narrative explores cause and effect in a way that’s surprisingly emotional and thoughtful. You’re constantly questioning whether you’re shaping the perfect timeline… or destroying the one you already had. The Characters Cheng Linwei is Waifu Cheng Linwei : is a smart, witty news reporter and your closest friend. She radiates warmth and loyalty, always appearing when you’re at your lowest. Her passion for tarot cards adds personality and charm, and she’s easily one of the emotional cores of the game. Gu Siqi – The Sharp-Eyed Detective Gu Siqi: is a quick witted, no nonsense investigator assigned to the toughest cases. Her intensity can feel harsh at times, but it comes from a place of wanting to protect others. She’s the kind of partner you want on your side during dangerous twists. Qiu Shuya – The Brilliant Scientist Qiu Shuya : Is your fellow researcher and the brains behind many of the team’s breakthroughs, including the time communication device itself. Kind, dedicated, and deeply in love with you, Shuya’s relationship with the protagonist adds real emotional weight to the story’s branching timelines. Cheng Linqiang – The Flirty Older Sister Cheng Lingiang : is Linwei ’s playful older sister, bold and flirtatious. She pushes you to show your true self, though her intentions aren’t always clear, is she testing your loyalty, or does she want something more for herself? Either way, she spices up every scene she’s in. Jiang Man – The Troubled Doctor Jiang Man : Is a hardworking medical professional who’s constantly overburdened by her responsibilities. She’s kind and empathetic, but struggles with pressures from her father and uncertainty about her future. She carries a quiet sadness that makes her very compelling. The Translation The English translation is surprisingly solid for this FMV title. There are some minor spelling errors and a few moments where on screen text (like newspapers) isn’t translated, so having a translation app nearby can help. But overall, it’s fully understandable and doesn’t hinder the experience Phone/Searching One thing I appreciated is how streamlined the gameplay segments are. Many FMV games slow down with long texting scenes or tedious object search sections. Chasing Through Time avoids this completely. There are no dragged out text message sequences, and the search interactions are quick and unobtrusive. It keeps the focus on the story, where FMV s shine. Tarot Card Collectables This ended up being one of my absolute favorite features. The collectible tarot cards not only tie into the themes of fate and destiny, but they also serve as great Steam profile items. Being able to collect cards of your favourite characters, trade them, and display them is incredibly fun, especially for completionists or collectors. It’s a unique identity piece for the Game of Fate franchise and something I wish more FMV games implemented. Final Thoughts Overall, Game of Fate: Chasing Through Time delivers an engaging narrative with emotional weight, memorable characters, and a refreshing sci-fi twist. The time-travel storyline can get a little complex, but everything eventually fits together beautifully. It’s impressive how the developers managed to fit such an ambitious concept into an FMV format. Message to KARMAGAME HK LIMITED You all did an amazing job. From the casting to the visual effects, the game hooked me from beginning to end. I’m excited to play the other two entries in the series. If I had to give one critique, it would be the green screen effect on phones and photos. I completely understand why it was used, especially for clarity and resolution but it can sometimes look a bit unrealistic or goofy. Still, that’s a minor complaint in an otherwise fantastic experience. Thank you for keeping the FMV genre alive and pushing it in new directions. I wish the entire team and cast continued success and hope to see more projects from you in the future. 8/10 – Highly Recommended!

Most, if not all, of these FMV games rely on the player to replay the game to unlock all heroine's endings/secrets. But what most of these FMV games do not have is a good and interesting main plot which will want players to replay the game to unlock everything. Fortunately, Game of Fate falls under the good category where the main plot is good enough. The girls are also interesting and attractive. My favourite was the cop girl. Now where this game lacks is the English translation. I don't know why these companies don't hire proper translators to translate these games. Loads of spelling mistakes, gramatical errors and what I assume is a "twist" for one of the girls was so hard to understand because the entire translation of that reveal was crap. If you're going to use AI to translate, atleast have a human proofread it.
