This game is definitely a dream come true for me. I'm a big fan of games like John Tiller games and the Strategic Mind series. So when I saw the Strategic Mind guys were making a game that is more tactical I was excited. Most turn based games like this have bare minimum graphics. This is serviceable. Not AAA but not 90s graphics either. AI is competent. They will go after your strongest Assets. I mostly been playing the Campaign and its tough but not unfair. This game is nothing like Xcom. Its not an Xcom game. Its like Battle Academy with upgraded graphics. They improved on voice acting from the bad voice acting in the Strategic Mind Series. So I have great hopes on the project for the future. Also they are releasing plenty of DLC. Lot of negative reviews seem to be from people having issues with multiplayer. I don't play multiplayer so cant comment on that but this company usually responsive and give constant updates. So a few gamers are mad its not updated when they want it to, even though the developers are making this game in a warzone and their crying in the comfort of their safe homes. So please take that into consideration when looking at negative versus postive reviews on this game.

This tactical game is very playable, attractive, and glitch free. It definitely isn't for the technical expert who likes to argue about armor slope and muzzle velocities. It is however a lot of fun. You're assigned a team of units which you can modify and refine as you work through the campaign. You figure out your tactical approach to the problem, move your units through the terrain, find the bad guys, eliminate them, capture the VP's and collect your medals. If you like that type of game, I strongly recommend this one.

Headquarters: WWII is a fantastic turn-based strategy game. Missions allow plenty of turns for completion, making it crucial to carefully plan and execute your strategy. I’ve found it immensely enjoyable, though there are a few minor adjustments I’d suggest to improve the experience. Firstly, I would introduce a system where units that are destroyed lose their accumulated experience. This way, when they’re reintroduced in subsequent missions, they would lack the veteran status they previously held. The same concept could apply to heroes, who could be permanently killed if lost in battle. This would add a layer of realism and increase the stakes during missions. Aside from these small tweaks, the game has been a lot of fun to play. While it’s not as detailed or comprehensive as Steel Division 2, it feels like a turn-based counterpart, albeit with slightly less emphasis on deep strategy and fewer units. That said, the game still rewards creative and enterprising play, and its roster of units delivers a distinctly WWII atmosphere. So far, I’ve completed the German campaign and have now moved on to the British campaign. With over 90 hours invested, I can confidently say it’s been a rewarding and engaging experience.

XCOM for dads and history nerds. Disregard the reviews regarding "getting hit by things you can't see". Welcome to more realistic warfare: take out the spotters and you won't need to worry about the artillery anymore. Check your corners and clear out anywhere a scout might be hiding. It's not that hard if you're willing to think tactically beyond full-on attack to the objective. I highly recommend turning on the LoS indicators and FoW to help make it more clear what you can and cannot see.

In my opinion this is Starni's best game so far. As with their other games, reconnaissance is KEY! if you don't scout properly you will get obliterated and you won't know where you got it from. Infantry scouts are great in cities. With only 1 promotion level (can't remember the name of the promotion) for extra stealth, you can get to an adjacent enemy infantry unit without being spotted, as long as you remain in the building and that unit isn't a scout. P.s. do NOT forget to remove their over-watch ability if you have some of your friendlies behind you that are exposed because when the AIs turn comes and the enemy reacts, an infantry unit might come from nearby and your scout will over-watch him exposing your position...and there is a fairly good chance your scout will not survive that fatal mistake. A recon vehicle is also great for open spaces as it scouts big areas and even if it does get spotted (keep an eye on the stealth icon on-top of the unit) you can retreat. The same applies for snipers & paratroopers. Keep paratroopers in buildings & as long as they have their 1st promotion for stealth you can creep up to an infantry scout unit & use the assault option. No need to talk about snipers....they are human artillery pieces :) & great scouts also. And finally I love that I don't have to burden my self with aeroplane units. So find your enemy before he finds you and outmanoeuvre him. That's where your tanks come to play. I only wish it did not crash on me so many times, I have sent several feedback reports. Though I have started suspecting that something might be up with my laptop as well. Awaiting more DLC's...many more :)
